David D Levine was conceived in Syracuse, New York; born in Minneapolis, Minnesota; raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin; educated in St. Louis, Missouri, and now lives in Portland, Oregon. A life-long science fiction reader and writer, he has been publishing short stories since 2001, including appearances in Interzone, F&SF, and David Hartwell's Year's Best Fantasy as well as several theme anthologies, and is a winner of the James White Award, Writers of the Future Contest, and Phobos Fiction Contest. He is active in science fiction fandom, running conventions and co-editing (with his wife Kate Yule) the highly regarded fanzine Bento.
