Informing humanitarians worldwide 24/7 — a service provided by UN OCHA

ReliefWeb Response strives to keep improving humanitarian information-sharing

It has been a year since the last operations were moved to ReliefWeb Response (RW Response) and we retired the HumanitarianResponse.info (HR.info) platform.

RW Response was soft launched in ReliefWeb Labs in June 2022 and after several rounds of testing and improvements, it was officially launched in November 2022. Operations were moved from HumanitarianResponse.info in phases - the last operations were migrated to RW Response by May 2023. An online copy of the HR.info site was captured, and the platform was subsequently decommissioned.

Today there are more than 900 OCHA and Cluster colleagues in the field who curate more than 50 digital operation sites, including in excess of 700 cluster and working group pages. More than 500,000 users have visited these operations in the past year from all over the world.

Looking deeper, the data shows that more than half of the visitors come from countries with active humanitarian operations, including Türkiye (41,000), Ukraine (32,000), DR Congo (22,000), Colombia (15,000), Burkina Faso (14,000) and Ethiopia (12,000) - just to name those in the top 10 – which tells us we are on the right track to making RW Response an essential humanitarian tool in the field.

We strive to keep improving! We are working to make the platform more useful by incorporating your feedback to drive improvements. Some highlighted advancements in the last year include:

  • Enhancing the platform's performance and speed to make the site easier to access regardless of location or connectivity;

  • Implementing a Search Engine Optimization (SEO) strategy to ensure that results are easy for users to find; and

  • Improving our help documentation to ensure operation managers can find the information they need to update the sites quickly.
