The Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) seeks a dynamic and seasoned professional to join our team as Head of Housing. This role offers a unique opportunity for candidates to shape the growth of our students and be part of a unique group of Student Affairs leaders.


The Office of Housing is integral to the management of the university’s student hostels, staff housing, and sports & recreation facilities, ensuring a conducive living and working environment for the university community.


This role reports to Chief of Staff (Student Affairs) and works closely with other Student Affairs units and university leadership.


Job Description

As the Head of Housing, you will lead the strategic direction and day-to-day operations of the university’s residential properties and sporting facilities. You will be responsible for enhancing resident and sports user satisfaction, ensuring effective governance, and driving financial and environmental sustainability.


Duties & Responsibilities

1) Strategy and Planning:

  • Develop and implement budget plans, management strategies and revenue-generating initiatives.
  • Formulate and enforce policies, standard operating procedures, and marketing strategies to optimize occupancy and utilization.
  • Jointly lead in the development of new hostel/sports & recreation facilities.

2) Operations:

  • Oversee all aspects of operations for residential properties and sporting facilities, including facilities management, accommodation allocation, financial management, and planning of upgrading projects.
  • Plan and execute preventive maintenance and improvement projects, ensuring the safety and well-being of residents and sports users.
  • Collaborate with relevant teams, including the Residential Life Team from Office of Student Life and Office of Campus Infrastructure and Facilities, on resident pastoral care, disciplinary issues, facilities maintenance, and safety.
  • Ensure accurate billing, arrears management, and timely collection of payments.

3) Leadership and Talent Development:

  • Lead and mentor a diverse team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Inspire, supervise, mentor, and motivate the admissions staff to achieve departmental and university objectives.
  • Foster a culture of excellence, collaboration, and innovation within the university.
  • Work in close alignment with the Chief of Staff on Student Affairs-wide efforts to enhance the student experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
  • At least 10 years of experience in property or facilities management, with a strong track record of leadership and team management.
  • Prior experience in hospitality or residential services is an advantage.
  • Deep understanding of housing management principles, financial management, and regulatory compliance.
