Ismay in c. 1910

Joseph Bruce Ismay (December 12, 1862 – October 17, 1937) was an English businessman. He was chairman and managing director of the White Star Line. He was known as the man who created the RMS Titanic. He was one of the survivors, but because he survived many people thought he was afraid of dying and would later destroy his reputation.

Ismay was born on December 12, 1862 in Crosby, Lancashire, England. He was married to Julia Florence Schieffelin from 1888 until his death in 1937. They had five children. Ismay died on October 17, 1937 in Mayfar, London, England from a stroke, aged 74.[1]
