‘Udta Punjab’ celebrated its eighth anniversary on June 17, 2024. This Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt, Shahid Kapoor, and Diljit Dosanjh starrer is one of the most celebrated films in the industry. The movie marked Diljit’s big Bollywood debut, and the singer-actor now recalled how he got an opportunity to be in the film and how manifestation worked for him.
In a recent chat with Sucharita Tyagi, Diljit explained that the director, Abhishek Chaubey, wanted the movie to be mainstream and not just a commercial hit. This was despite having a famous cast that included Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt, and Shahid Kapoor.

The interviewer mentioned that Abhishek Chaubey wanted to cast a lesser-known actor in the film because the main cast was already full of big stars. Diljit Dosanjh then shared how he was chosen for the role. He saw a post about ‘Udta Punjab’ with its title. After coming home from a wedding show, he thought he should be in the film because it was about Punjab.

He thought that since the movie's title had ‘Punjab’ in it and they were casting everyone, he should also be there. Soon after, he got a call from the filmmakers who wanted to meet him, and that's how he got the role.


On the work front, Diljit Dosanjh made a debut appearance on Jimmy Fallon’s ‘The Tonight Show’. His musical performance was winning social media and making India proud.

Diljit, with folded hands, thanked Fallon for having him on the show and later shared the video with the caption, "ONE LOVE @jimmyfallon @fallontonight." Diljit performed 'Born To Shine' and 'G.O.A.T' and sang a line from his recent film 'Amar Singh Chamkila'. Fallon encouraged the audience to catch Diljit's 'Dil-Lunimati' music tour across North America, calling him "the biggest Punjabi artist on the planet."

Diljit Dosanjh was last seen in Imtiaz Ali's ‘Amar Singh Chamkila’ with Parineeti Chopra. He will next be seen in ‘Jatt and Juliet 3’. He will also play a key role in Anees Bazmee’s ‘No Entry 2’.
