Top 5 matches of WWE NXT Champion, Trick Williams
July will prove to be huge for WWE NXT champion, Trick Williams. He will be taking on his dear friend, Je’Von Evans, along with Shawn Spears and Ethan Page in a fatal four-way showdown for the NXT Championship belt. With the quality of this card, it is safe to say that Williams’ title is in jeopardy.
Williams might be stripped of his belt at NXT Heatwave, but the big moments he has delivered throughout the years have made him a champion in the hearts of his fans. As the 30-year-old superstar gears up for one of the biggest games of his life, let’s take a look back at the top five matches of his career.

Here are the top 5 matches of WWE NXT Champion, Trick Williams

1) Trick Williams vs. Axiom vs. Dragon Lee vs. Tyler Bate

Back in 2023, Williams faced off against Axiom, Dragon Lee, and Tyler Bate in a Fatal Four-Way Matchup on WWE NXT #700. This match had it all; Lee and Axiom were putting their athleticism on display the entire night, while Tyler Bate did what he does best. Williams was dominant throughout and proved to be an issue for the other three competitors.
However, in the end, Axiom got dropped by Dragon Lee while Bate and Williams slowly recovered outside the ring. Lee was extremely close to the win, but Williams got up, and in an effort to stop him, Dragon headbutted Trick. Much to everyone’s surprise, Lee’s headbutt on Williams dropped him right on top of Axiom, and Williams won the match by pinning his opponent. An exciting watch from start to finish.

2) Ilja Dragunov vs. Trick Williams

Ilja Dragunov vs. Trick Williams was perhaps the most important match of Williams’ career when it happened. Both fighters had a lot riding on this matchup, and defeat could’ve easily spelled an end to their careers. With the stakes so high and the NXT Championship on the line, Williams and the Mad Dragon gave the people a show to remember.
Both fighters went at each other right from the start and even paused in the middle to show respect to each other. Dragunov had the upper hand throughout most of the fight. However, a flying knee was all it took for Williams to claim the belt and etch his name in the history books. It is also worth noting that Williams had lost three matches to Dragunov before this much-needed win.

3) Carmelo Hayes & Trick Williams vs. Cruz Del Toro & Joaquin Wilde

Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams took on Cruz Del Toro and Joaquin Wilde to book their tickets to NXT Vengeance Day by beating down Joaquin Wilde and Cruz Del Toro back in January 2024. Williams’ opponents had a terrific start to the match and piled on during the beating in the early minutes of the match.

However, it wasn’t enough to take down Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams, who quickly showed just how much better they are. The match took around 12 minutes and was full of intensity and athleticism. In the end, it was Williams who hit Del Toro with his knee and ended the match with ease. This was easily one of the most intense and fast-paced matchups that Williams has been involved in this year.

4) Carmelo Hayes & Trick Williams vs. Edris Enofe & Malik Blade

This was another dominant showing by Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams. Trick was on one the entire night and dominated the ring. At one point in the match, he slammed both Edris Enofe and Malik Blade as he did most of the heavy lifting. However, despite their dominant performance, the match almost slipped away from Williams and Hayes.

Carmelo took a body splash from Malik Blade and was almost pinned for a full three-count. However, Trick saved the day by interrupting at the very last second; he followed his heroics by knocking out Enofe outside the ring and then proceeded to deliver a flash knee to Blade’s face. That was all she wrote, as Trick then got a pinfall on Malik to claim victory.

5) Trick Williams vs. Bron Breakker vs. Dijak vs. Josh Briggs vs. Tyler Bate

Trick Williams, Bron Breakker, Dijak, Josh Briggs, and Tyler Bate all faced off on December 10, 2023. Williams had 0 points in the Iron Survivor challenge, even after 20 minutes had passed. Trick was almost out for the count too, but an interference from Eddy Thorpe saved him from being pinned, and he even knocked out Dijak and allowed Trick to pin him.

Throughout the game, Trick often found himself in the penalty box. However, after he scored his first point, Williams had no intention of slowing down. He went on to score the next four points and complete his amazing comeback. Four consecutive pinfalls on all four opponents is not an easy feat, and it only gets more special when you consider the fact that Trick was behind throughout the game.
