Woman raped for seven years since she was 14; 22-year-old arrested
DEHRADUN: A 22-year-old man was arrested for raping a woman multiple times since 2017. The survivor was a 14-year-old minor when the first incident took place. The accused, a resident of Dehradun’s Sahaspur area, had recorded the act on his mobile phone to blackmail and threaten the girl from informing her family.
Police said the incident came to light after the woman, along with her parents, lodged a complaint against the man on Wednesday evening. “The accused was booked under relevant sections of IPC and Pocso Act. He was arrested on Thursday and produced before the local court which sent him to jail,” station house officer of Sahaspur, sub-inspector Mukesh Tyagi, said.
Tyagi added, “The accused had first raped the complainant when she was alone in her house in 2017. At the time of crime, both complainant and accused were minors. In her complaint, she alleged the accused recorded the act on his mobile phone and raped her on several occasions by threatening to circulate the video. He had also threatened her not to inform her family.”
