The Telugu mythological super hero film 'Hanu Man' was released in theatres on January 12, 2024. Directed by Prasanth Varma, the film had Teja Sajja in the lead role, and the rest of the cast included Amritha Aiyer, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, and Vinay Rai in prominent roles. The movie was critically acclaimed for its VFX after its release, and it has made more than Rs 250 crore at the box office.
After successfully running in theatres for 20 days, the film has now made sensational news as it has "become an all-time Sankranthi blockbuster in 92 years of Tollywood history." Reportedly, the films released during Sankranti, as they clash at the box office, do not perform at their best.
However, Teja Sajja's 'Hanu Man' is said to have broken that record this year.
The film, apart from performing well in India, has managed to do well abroad as well. The first installment of Prasanth Varma's cinematic universe made a new record as it grossed Rs 200 crore at the domestic market (India) in 20 days and has also grossed $5 million overseas. 'Hanu Man, apart from the Telugu states, did well in the Hindi belt. Going by the occupancy percentage, it is likely that the film will run in theatres for one more week until a big release is slated for February 9.
'Hanu Man' is also the first Indian film in 2024 to have made more than Rs 200 crore in India. Following the film's success, the makers have planned for the sequel, 'Jai Hanuman'. The pre-production work for the second part of the film is underway. Apart from that, director Prasanth Varma is also launching the film in his cinematic universe titled 'Adhira'. It is likely that after 'Jai Hanuman', the work for 'Adhira' will begin.
