Four hog deer drowned, while 24 other animals were rescued from floodwaters following the inundation of Kaziranga National Park on Tuesday, an official reported. Forest department officials moved the rescued animals, primarily deer, to dry and safe areas to ensure their safety and well-being.

Floods and landslides triggered by heavy rains have claimed the lives of at least 16 people over the past two weeks in India's northeast.

“After the ‘satsang’ ended, everyone came out. Outside, the road was built on a height with a drain below. One after the other, people started falling into it. Some people got crushed,” says an eyewitness, Shakuntala, on Hathras stampede incident.

"District administration is investigating the matter. The injured are being taken to the hospital and people are still being recovered... A figure of nearly 50-60 deaths has been reported to me by the doctors... Permission for the event to be held was given by the SDM and it was a private event... A high-level committee has been formed to investigate the matter... The primary focus of the administration is to provide all possible help to the injured and kin of the deceased...," Hathras DM Ashish Kumar said.

"The incident that happened in Hathras district of Uttar Pradesh is extremely painful. My deepest condolences to the bereaved families of those who have lost their loved ones in this. I wish for the speedy recovery of all the injured. Under the supervision of the state government, the local administration is providing all possible help to all the victims," Defence Minister Rajnath Singh tweeted in Hindi.

"We have been instructed by the CM to reach the Hathras incident site and look into the matter and take required decisions on behalf of the government. The number of deceased is continuously increasing...," said UP Minister Sandeep Singh.

"Seven positive cases are found in Pune, out of them two are pregnant women, three are non-pregnant and the remaining are men. All of them are from three different areas. Physically these patients are alright and don't have any serious complaints. They are getting treated on OPD basis; nowhere the patients have been admitted.
