Ganga Saptami 2024: Ganga Saptami is one of the most sacred festivals of Hindus. This day is purely dedicated to Goddess Ganga. This day is also celebrated as Ganga Jayanti. People celebrate this day to honour the rebirth of Goddess Ganga. According to the Drik Panchang, Ganga Saptami is going to be celebrated on Saptami Tithi of Shukla Paksha in the month of Vaishakha.This year, Ganga Saptami is being celebrated across the country on May 14, 2024.

Ganga Saptami 2024: Significance
Ganga Saptami holds a great religious significance in Hindu religion. This day is celebrated to honour the Goddess Ganga. According to the Hindu Scriptures, it is believed that Goddess Ganga took rebirth on this auspicious day. Goddess Ganga is present on earth in the form of sacred water. She is the mother to all human beings. It is believed that when Goddess Ganga came down on earth on Ganga Dussehra then sage Jahnu drank all the Ganga water. All the Gods and deities along with Bhagirath requested to Jahnu Rishi to release the Ganga then he accepted the request and released Goddess Ganga and again it came on earth on Ganga Saptami day that's why this is also celebrated as Jahnu Saptami. Maa Ganga is known by various names such as Bhagirathi, Gange, Vishnupadi, and Jahnvi.
Goddess Ganga is the most revered river in the country and has the healing properties. A large number of devotees across the country visit those places where there are Ganga Ghats to take holy dip in Ganga water. By taking holy dip in Ganga water, they get relieved from their past sins as Ganga water is so pure and pious that removes all the negativity, and purifies your body, mind and soul. The journey of holy Ganga starts from Gaumukh and submerge in Ganga Sagar in West Bengal after passing through many states in India so people take bath in Ganga river at various places.
Ganga Saptami 2024: Puja Vidhi
1. Wake up early in the morning and take a holy dip in water.
2. Devotees offer Arghya to Lord Surya while standing in Ganga water.
3. Many devotees use Ganga water for Shivling abhishekam, as it is considered rewarding.
4. Special pujas are also performed on this auspicious day.
5. Devotees light a diya with desi ghee on the bank of Ganga river.
6. Offer prayers to Goddess Ganga by chanting various Vedic Mantras.
7. Special Aarti is performed in the evening at various Ganga Ghats.
8. Taking a holy dip in Ganga river is considered the most auspicious.
