𝐋𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐦𝐬 ‘𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐮𝐩 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐭𝐡’ 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐯𝐞𝐲. The North-east Quarterly Economic Survey, launched today by Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with law firm Gilson Gray LLP, benchmarks key indicators in the region’s economy against the wider UK. Almost three-quarters of companies in the North-east are staffing up for growth amid signs that the economy is returning to prosperity. More than half of companies (58%) located in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire expect their turnover to grow over the next 12 months, fuelled by demand from overseas. To meet the opportunity, 71% are looking to grow their workforce, 12-percentage points ahead of the UK average (59%). Our campaign to have Great British Energy headquartered in #Aberdeen reached the Prime Minister yesterday afternoon, courtesy of Aberdeen South MP Stephen Flynn. We hired an advertising van in Westminster during the King's Speech, driving home the message that the firm must "come home" to Aberdeen, the energy capital of Europe. 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝐥𝐨𝐝𝐠𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝 𝐨𝐟𝐟𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐟𝐚𝐫𝐦 '𝐟𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐢𝐳𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐀𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐞𝐧' Plans to build one the largest floating offshore windfarms in the world have been lodged with the Scottish Government. The site of the proposed Ossian project is a whopping 331sq miles, more than four times the size of Aberdeen, and would be capable of powering up to six million homes annually. The project would have a capacity of 3.6gigawatts (GW) and is a joint-venture between SSE Renewables, Marubeni Corporation and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP).
