It's time to meet another of our mentors. Jan started as a software engineer, writing code for military radars, before moving to the CAA and later into project & programme development. Introducing Time Based Separation to Heathrow was one of her projects, and she found helping people achieve their potential the most enjoyable aspect of all her roles. Helping people achieve what they want & deserve from their career is Jan's goal, utilising her experience in high performing team development and leadership techniques.

The Aviation in Reach summer '24 cohort is within touching distance! Our team of coordinators pair by hand to try and find the ideal mentor for each mentee, and we're excited to share that very shortly we'll be introducing them to their mentor 🎉 So much work goes into getting each cohort up and running, so it's always reassuring when it all comes together. We've been so inspired by both our new mentees and those who applied to become mentors with us, and we can't wait to see what they all achieve together.

Social media is a powerful tool for connecting and engaging with not just potential supporters, but with potential mentees who are struggling to break into the aviation industry. Our next big social media milestone is reaching 1000 followers on X (formerly Twitter), which even a year ago would have felt impossible to achieve! ✨ Introducing Aviation in Reach ✨ …...…....... Aviation in Reach (AiR) is a charity dedicated to fostering diversity and inclusivity within the aviation industry. By providing free mentoring to individuals from underrepresented demographics, AiR empowers aspiring pilots, air traffic controllers, engineers, and loadmasters to overcome barriers and achieve their career aspirations. 💛✈️ ................ AiR reached out for a brand audit, which led to a brand refresh. 💛 What we did: - Expanded the logo suite - Updated the colour palette, Typography, and other visual elements - Social media overhaul - Brand guidelines. It was one of my all-time favourite projects and an honour working with Aviation in Reach. We've had a phenomenal response to the expansion of our mentor team! Thank you to all who have applied - we're excited to have so many new aviation professionals onboard. Applications for new mentors are currently paused to allow us to focus on the imminent start of our summer cohort, but make sure to follow us so you don't miss any announcements! We'll be reopening applications in preparation for an autumn/winter cohort later this year.

Recently, we asked our followers on social media what advice they'd give somebody looking to join the aviation industry; there were some incredible responses, with lots of people passing on tips for future aviation professionals. We couldn't keep all of this advice to ourselves, so we're going to be sharing them for everyone dreaming of a career in aviation. Here's the first one, and it's all about preparation. I'm happy to share that I've completed my ATPL(A) Theory at CAE! It was a tough 10 months, but the countless long nights paid off with a 95.5% average! Bring on Basic Flight Training! 🥳🛫

We want the aviation industry to be more diverse and more accessible, which is why our mentoring scheme is completely free.
