British Skin Foundation
Research Services
We are the only UK charity that raises money to fund research into all types of skin diseases, including skin cancer.
About us
The British Skin Foundation is the only UK charity that raises money to fund research into all types of skin diseases, including skin cancer. Sixty percent of British people currently suffer from or have suffered with a skin disease at some point during their lifetime. Whilst some skin conditions are manageable, others are severe enough to kill. We are here to help change that by raising money for vital research to help find cures and treatments for common skin conditions like eczema or acne, through to potential killers like malignant melanoma. Founded in 1996, the British Skin Foundation has supported 400 research projects and awarded £17,000,000 in funding across all skin diseases. Whilst we are dedicated to raising money for research, we also aim to raise awareness of skin diseases in the wider community. We're committed to educating people about the different skin conditions, helping to reduce stigma and promote understanding. The British Skin Foundation receives no statutory funding and relies on completely on donations.

We are currently seeking new Lay Trustees to join our dynamic Board. The British Skin Foundation (BSF) is the UK’s leading skin disease and skin cancer research charity. Around 60% of the UK’s population suffer or have suffered physically and psychologically from some form of skin disease whilst the number of people with skin cancer is growing year on year. The BSF aims to raise money to fund treatments and cures. It is a small charity with big ambitions, and we are looking for talented individuals with a variety of skills to make a genuine difference and play a pivotal role in our future development. We would like to add a number of Lay Trustees to our Board and would like to hear from you if you are passionate about skin and are keen to offer your time and expertise to support us. We would particularly like to hear from you if you have skills in the areas of commerce, marketing and communications and finance. Board meetings are both hybrid, and in person, and take place at our offices in central London three times a year. Meetings currently take place on the second Thursday in January, May and September from 4pm until 6pm and we value our Trustees being able to attend as many meetings as possible. In addition it is hoped that you will be able to contribute your time to helping outside of meetings depending on your skill set and availability. There are also opportunities to support our dedicated team with local events and activities. Trustees are asked to complete a 5 year term of service. If you have a desire to help then please send your CV with a covering letter outlining why you’re interested in becoming a BSF Trustee, how you can add to the Board, and what you think you can bring to the BSF. Please forward these to our CEO Matthew Patey, OBE at matthew@britishskinfoundation.org.uk by 16th August 2024. #BritishSkinFoundation #Charity #ThirdSector #Trustees

British Skin Foundation reposted this
The summer is here and the sun's out, making it the perfect time for the British Skin Foundation's OOH campaign with JCDecaux Community Channel, ‘More, More, More.’ The campaign uses the power of the public screen to promote the benefits of sun safety when people are out and about in the summer months. JCDecaux Community Channel is proud to support this message as part of its initiative to open up OOH to not-for-profit community and charitable organisations.
