Trusted carbon removals from the world's leading experts

About us

Even if we do everything else right on reducing emissions, the world still needs to remove up to 220 Gigatonnes of carbon from the atmosphere by 2050. You can’t reach net zero without removals. That’s where we come in. CUR8 is dedicated to building the global market for carbon removals. We’re not a marketplace. We work with the best nature and technology partners to build removals portfolios of the highest quality, and help get us on the exponential to reach 10 billion tonnes per year of removals by 2050.

❓Have you ever wondered how sustainability leaders incorporate carbon removals into their organisation's net zero strategy? 👉 Register here for our webinar tomorrow: https://lnkd.in/eFGwPZNw It’s crucial for corporates to invest in carbon removal credits to neutralise residual emissions and reach net zero! We've gathered industry pioneers in carbon removal investments. Here's a snapshot of our panel: 💡 British Airways: Committed to achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2050, the company has created a first-of-a-kind product in partnerships with CUR8, UNDO, and Standard Chartered to pilot a groundbreaking model that unlocks debt financing for carbon removals. 💡 Ripple: Since committing $100M in May 2022, Ripple has invested in high-quality carbon removal projects. Notably, they pre-purchased carbon credits, supporting the future removal of close to 120,000 metric tons of CO2. These investments help launch additional projects in new regions, accelerating carbon removal timelines. 💡 Accenture: With nature-based carbon removal projects in Indonesia, the Philippines, the UK and the US, Accenture focuses on reforesting land, rebuilding biodiversity and promoting sustainable agriculture. They’ve also supported the launch of Climeworks's “Orca” plant, which captures 4,000 tons of CO2 annually. 🌍 Join us at 4 PM (GMT+1) on July 16th for insights from leading carbon removal operators! #CarbonRemoval #NetZero #ClimateAction #CDRInvestments

🏇🏇 Out in front: Royal Ascot enclosure aims for net zero with carbon removal scheme Thanks to Simon Hunt for the write-up in yesterday's Evening Standard. "Royal Ascot's village enclosure is going net zero for the first time after hiring a specialist company to remove from the atmosphere as much carbon as is likely to be generated by racegoers at next week’s festival. Shoreditch climate tech firm CUR8 said it will remove 138 tonnes of carbon dioxide to mitigate the residual emissions. The project will involve methods such as direct air capture and enhanced rock weathering, in which rocks are ground up, making a fine gravel or dust that reacts more easily with the carbon in the air.  Last year Ascot signed the UN Sport for Climate Action Framework, with an aim to reduce 50% of its carbon emissions by 2030 and reach net zero by 2040. Since launching in 2022, CUR8 has struck deals to remove carbon emissions for several high profile events including music festivals All Points East and British Summer Time, the London Marathon and The 1975’s recent gig series at the O2 Arena. CUR8, which has set a target to remove one billion tonnes of carbon a year, has already raised £5.3 million in a funding round led by GV (Google Ventures)." A great partnership, Keith Field Alexandra Bertram!

🌿 Are you a sustainability leader figuring out how to build your Net Zero Strategy? 🌿 During our latest webinar, we delved into how companies are building and executing their Net Zero Strategies with carbon removals. One standout story was from AEG, who organises large sports and live entertainment events. Their Director of Sustainability, Sam Booth, shared his journey in navigating the complexities of carbon removal and net zero strategy. He described his initial frustration with the lack of clear, effective options in the market. Expecting to find solutions that genuinely captured and stored carbon, he instead found the landscape to be confusing. While many carbon strategies focus on carbon reductions, which are essential, accessing and understanding high quality carbon removal credits proves challenging. Working with CUR8 was a turning point for AEG’s net zero strategy. A key takeaway was the importance of progress over perfection. Starting with a small investment in carbon removals not only begins the journey towards sustainability, but also serves as a hedge against evolving regulations and global market dynamics. Are you eager to discover the journeys of other sustainability leaders? Find the link to our webinar in the comments below! #carbonremovals #netzero #voluntarycarbonmarket

🎯 The 'why invest in climate now' is quite clear to all stakeholders – businesses, banks, and governments. 🤔 It's the 'how to invest now' where more efforts are needed. 💡 Which is why our partnership with Standard Chartered, British Airways and UNDO was born. Our CEO & Co-Founder Marta Krupinska and Simon Derrick from Standard Chartered shared the stage today at Money20/20 in Amsterdam to talk about our First-Of-A-Kind (FOAK) financing pilot, the commercial opportunities emerging from the trillion-dollar carbon removals industry, alongside the critical mission to stop climate change. 👉 So what's the answer to the 'how to invest now'? For buyers, it's de-risked purchases from the best suppliers globally, without the need to pay upfront. For banks, it's access to a vehicle that bridges the gap between equity financing and bespoke project financing. CUR8 solves for the missing pieces of the puzzle – by being the arbiter of good science, and bringing together buyers & capital providers under the same platform. The key motivation was to launch a product that is repeatable and solves for the key risks: • Performance risk - answering the ‘does it work’ question • Credit risk - buyers pay on delivery and startups have upfront capital needs • Counterparty risk • Reputational risk The $6-16 trillion funding gap to net zero will have to close and this is just the beginning 🚀 Thanks to Ian Horne & Micky Tesfaye for making this happen!
