Supporting people who have Down's syndrome to live full and rewarding lives.
About us
Supporting people with Down's syndrome throughout their lives. Since our formation in 1970, we have developed into a highly regarded national charity with over 20,000 members and over 100 affiliated local groups across the country.. We are often the first point of contact for new parents of a baby with Down's syndrome looking for information and advice, and remain a valued source of support to families as their child grows and develops. People with Down's syndrome are entitled to high quality healthcare, good education, often in mainstream schools, to have jobs and to live fulfilling lives within their local communities. We provide information and support for people with Down's syndrome, their families and carers and the professionals who work for them. DSA Helpline: provides information about all aspects of living with Down's syndrome. Call Monday to Friday, 10am to 4pm 0333 12 12 300. Workfit: a service which turns the 'supported employment' concept on its head. A tailored service training employers about the Down's syndrome learning profile. Finding the right employment opportunities, for the right people. DSActive: sports programme providing children and adults with a fair opportunity to get involved in sports, the emphasis being placed primarily on football and tennis. Email info@downs-syndrome.org.uk, call 0333 1212 300 or visit our website - www.downs-syndrome.org.uk - to find out more.

Why not make it a little easier by checking out our back to school resources 👉 https://loom.ly/GNiPTL0 these can help with preparing for a child who has Down’s syndrome to start school, change school or simply move to a new classroom or teacher. Don't forget, if you have any specific questions or concerns, the Information Team can be contacted via our Helpline on info@downs-syndrome.org.uk or by calling 0333 1212 300 (Monday to Friday, 10am-4pm). #BackToSchool #Resources

We have put together a survey for people who have Down's syndrome about how you voted (in person, by post etc) at the recent election, which resources were helpful and what things might help in the future. If you didn’t vote we’d be interested to know why, and what changes might help you vote at the next election. The survey is anonymous and should only take 5-10 minutes to complete: https://loom.ly/cfTdn9E

Going to a new class or new school is a big change for any child, and can be especially challenging for child who has Down’s syndrome, as there is so much new information to take in. A transition book can be a good way to help prepare children and young people for that change. Check out our guide here: https://loom.ly/FQDf8lk
