Wharf Life’s coverage of our first Dragon Boat Festival, has us reminiscing on what was a fantastic day last month. For those who missed it, we brought the community together for an exhilarating dragon boat race, with all proceeds going to the East End Community Foundation’s ‘Life Chances Campaign’. This campaign is dedicated to creating opportunities and making a significant impact in areas of youth unemployment, pension poverty and isolation and digital inequality. As proud patrons of the charity, we are honoured to be involved in the impactful work they do through various fundraising events throughout the year. It also marked the culmination of FEC’s Positive Impacts Week, where colleagues from across the business came together to take small actions that make big differences for our communities. A huge thank you to everyone who participated and helped us raise funds. We can’t wait for the next one! Our Red Bank neighbourhood in Manchester is filled with some of the most exciting retailers that the city has to offer 💫 Under the arches, you can find everything from iconic Manchester bakery, Half Dozen Other, to Green Arches bar and brewery, and Michelin Guide-recognised restaurant, The Spärrows, making this one of the most exciting hospitality destinations in the city. But it isn’t just food and drink that’s causing a stir, with exciting independent retailers, like BlackOwned Manchester, and world-renowned fitness concept CrossFit also contributing to the success of this emerging neighbourhood. #RedBank #retail #placemaking #regeneration

Yesterday, we had the pleasure of hosting Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner, Mayor Andy Burnham and newly-appointed CEO of Greater Manchester Combined Authority, Caroline Simpson to our Collyhurst Village project, alongside partners from Manchester City Council.   Leader of MCC Bev Craig and FEC’s Strategic Partnerships Director Tom Fenton, talked the Deputy PM through the ambitious plans for the area and the importance of embedding the existing community within them, before walking the site and sharing an overview of the entire £4bn Victoria North site.   Once complete, the first phase of the development will provide 274 new low carbon homes – including 130 homes for social rent - alongside enhancements to amenities, public realm and infrastructure, while also retaining and enriching the essence of Collyhurst. Pooches of Pride is back! 🐶 That's right, to coincide with Pride celebrations across Manchester, we are partnering with the city's biggest dog community, Ex-PAW to host the free event on Saturday August 17th in Angel Meadow Park. This year, the headline act will be the furbulous dog show hosted by local drag queen Belinda Carlisle, with categories including 'Animal Kingdom Realness’, ‘Drag Kings of Manchester’ and ‘Shantay You Stay’. A dog toy drive and dog food bank will be running throughout the day for visitors to donate toys and blankets to Manchester & Cheshire Dogs Home . Foundation Coffee House will be giving out free puppacinos for well-behaved doggies, while street food from Isit Kitchen will be cooking next door to Angel Meadow Park, with Fairfield Social Club’s bar open for the duration of the event. For more information on the dog show and to book your dog's place, visit the website: https://lnkd.in/d3qPVdqP

Last month, colleagues from our Manchester development and estates teams took a trip to Copenhagen to learn about some of the most exciting placemaking projects happening in the city right now 😍 The aim of the trip was to bring inspiration back to our Victoria North regeneration project to help us find ways to create neighbourhoods that are deeply embedded in the community and provide opportunities for everyone living there to thrive. With a project of this scale – 15,000 new homes across 155 hectares – that is no small feat. But having seen the success of what’s been achieved in Denmark, we’re excited to replicate some of those ideas in Manchester and create a community of the future for the people of North Manchester. #placemaking #regeneration #community

At last week's Chartered Institute of Housing conference in Manchester, our strategic partnerships director Tom Fenton led a group of delegates on a tour of the Victoria North project, alongside partners from Manchester City Council to give an update on progress. Among them was Ethan Davies, local democracy reporter for the Manchester Evening News, who last visited the site two years ago. Unsurprisingly, there has been quite a bit of progress across the 155-hectare site, which you can read more about in Ethan's piece from the weekend. It's been great to reflect on the success of the last couple of years and feel excited about what we're going to be able to achieve in the next two and beyond! https://lnkd.in/e4UwqmgJ

This week we welcomed students from local schools in North Manchester, St Malachy’s RC Primary and Saviour CofE Primary, for a tour of our Collyhurst regeneration project and to hear more about different careers. There was also time for the kids to create welcome cards for Collyhurst’s future residents. It’s been great for us to get involved with the learning and development of the young people in our communities and we hope everyone who attended found the day insightful! #Manchester #UrbanDevelopment
