About us

Media Trust works in partnership with the media and creative industry to give charities, young people and underrepresented communities a stronger voice. We do this through our skills-based volunteering, communications training and capacity building programmes and connecting leading media and creative professionals with charities and underrepresented communities across the UK. By bridging the gap between the media industry and broader society we aim to contribute to a more responsible, represented and connected media sector and ultimately a more socially cohesive Britain.

Today we're at Ogilvy's London offices for 'A Day To Make A Difference' 🌟 It has been a full day of comms support! Five charities, working on inclusion and diversity, have been working with 20 communications experts from across Ogilvy UK and GroupM. They have been collaborating on communication strategies to address period poverty, engage with the LGBT community, identify young carers and connect with autistic and neurodivergent people online. The teams will present their ideas back to four judges, Cara French, Matt Foster🇵🇭🇬🇧🏳️🌈, Sarah Duggan and Joshua T. The winning charity team will receive a £500 donation to help bring the campaign ideas to life.   It’s been another wonderful charity challenge and we are so grateful for Ogilvy’s continued dedication to supporting the charity sector.   Thanks to Amy Shaw, CSR Manager at Ogilvy, who has gone above and beyond to make the event possible! Hey Girls, Blueprint for All, ASD Family Help, Westminster LGBT+ Forum, Barnet Carers

We are so pleased to introduce you to the three filmmakers whose stories will be part of the third series of #BlackBritainUnspoken - coming to discovery+ this October! 🚨 Donell Atkinson-Johnson 🚗 Donell is director and writer of independent films and music videos as well as a production freelancer in the film/HETV industry. His film ‘Lloyd the Instructor’ follows Lloyd, an eccentric driving instructor and Dylan, the last of four brothers to learn with Lloyd. In his laid-back style, he imparts his years of wisdom onto the south London youth as he teaches them the basics of driving whilst fostering an environment wherein Black men are offered the chance to be vulnerable. Joladé Olusanya FRSA 🙌🏿 Joladé is a Nigerian-British award-winning writer, poet, director and photographer based in East London. His film ‘mandem’ is an evocative docu-film inspired by the late poet Gboyega Odubanjo and a poem written by director Joladé in response to Odubanjo's work. This film explores the perceptions of the ‘mandem,’ portraying their deep and cultural significance within the Black British community and beyond. Lauren Gee 🛼 Lauren is a producer from London. Passionate about platforming Black art and film, her background has seen her produce films for artist filmmakers Alberta Whittle, Onyeka Igwe, Keith Piper and Beverley Bennett as well as curating public programmes. Her film ‘Dancing on Road' documents and celebrates the Black British female roller-skating community, showcasing its long history and fixture within popular culture. We can't wait for you to see the incredible films these three are creating. Join us in congratulating Donell, Joladé and Lauren - and stay tuned to get to know them better very soon! #BlackBritainUnspoken comes from Warner Bros. Discovery Access Programs International, in collaboration with BOUNCE CINEMA LIMITED, Wall to Wall and Media Trust.

Today we’re thrilled to announce an exciting new partnership with Ascential, an amazing organisation that helps the world’s biggest brands navigate what’s next through events, intelligence and advisory services. Ascential’s unforgettable events like Cannes Lions and Money20/20 bring thought leaders, the C-suite and creative talent together to have the conversations that count. Perhaps more importantly though, Ascential's values of creativity, fairness, empowerment and focus are really closely aligned with Media Trust’s own values, and because they’ve already been supporting Media Trust for a number of years, we know they’re a business that walks the talk. In our new expanded partnership, we’ll be matching Ascential volunteers with charities to strengthen their comms capabilities while also arranging for Ascential mentors to help creative talent from underrepresented communities progress their careers in the industry. #charity #volunteering
