This gathering brought together experts from across the financial education sector to discuss its evolution over the past ten years. 🌟 We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our esteemed panellists: Olamide Majekodunmi, Raja Moussaoui, Susannah Hume, and our very own Leon Ward and Steve Korris from MyBnk. Your invaluable perspective on improving the state of financial education in the country was both inspiring and thought-provoking. Here is our CEO, Leon Ward, responding to yesterday's King's speech outlining the new Labour government's agenda. We were disappointed to see financial education wasn’t featured, and want to highlight our three key requests for the government: 1. Ensure every 11-18-year-old receives at least 30 hours of practical financial education annually. 2. Support young adults (18-35) with robust financial education initiatives during key life transitions. 3. Prioritise financial inclusion across government strategies to address inequality and promote social mobility. We are always grateful to our network of incredible Foundation Champions across the Berkeley Group Plc for helping us promote the Foundation to colleagues, and looking after our Community Partnerships. It was great to hold our quarterly meeting yesterday, sharing ideas and catching up on the latest news. We were lucky to be joined by Sarah Bowron MCIoF(Dip), Volunteer and Partnerships Manager from MyBnk, one of our Strategic Partner charities. Sarah gave an update on the ways Berkeley staff can share their skills and contribute to the MyBnk’s work, improving access to financial wellbeing for young people. It was a fantastic learning opportunity, thank you Sarah! 

🎉 Celebrating MyBnk’s One Year of Partnership with Lowell!🎉 We are delighted to celebrate one incredible year of our partnership with Lowell. Over the past year, Lowell has been a pillar of support, helping us make tangible impact through financial education. Together, we've achieved so much over the past 12 months: A number of Lowell colleagues have participated in events to raise funds for MyBnk and we've delivered essential financial education sessions to Lowell apprentices. We even had the opportunity to welcome Eva Eisenschimmel to our panel event last June and shouted out about the incredible work Lowell is doing with us in Parliament. With Lowell’s support, we launched our North West Hub, conducted research for Debt Awareness Week and Mental Health Awareness Week. Finally, we were able to deliver crucial programmes in schools in #Merseyside. None of this would have been possible without Lowell’s unwavering dedication and generosity. We have already kicked off the new year of our partnership with an insightful lunch and learn session for MyBnk staff, centred around what Lowell does and how it supports their customers. Today is #WorldYouthSkillsDay and it's all about empowering young people to build the skills they need to build a brighter future. Young people face significant challenges in the job market and are nearly three times more likely to be unemployed than adults. They often encounter lower quality jobs, greater labour market inequalities, and longer, more insecure transitions from school to work. Unfortunately, many existing systems fail to meet the learning needs of our youth. Surveys indicate that a large number of young people have low levels of achievement in basic #literacy and numeracy, including essential financial education. #FinancialEducation is a crucial skill for building a secure future. It ensures young people are equipped to make informed decisions, manage their finances efficiently, and navigate the complexities of adulthood with confidence. At MyBnk, we are committed to providing comprehensive financial education programmes. Our courses cover vital topics such as debt prioritisation, money management, and digital finance skills. We deliver these programmes through councils, charities, and non-mainstream education institutions, specifically targeting those not in employment, education, or training, as well as young people leaving #care. Over the past two weeks, dedicated staff from both the Manchester and London Isio offices have taken on incredible challenges to support MyBnk. 🚶♂️ Manchester Team Conquers the Cheshire Three Peaks! Over 40 team members hiked the Cheshire Three Peaks, tackling 17 miles of walking and 1,000m (3,300 ft) of elevation over 8 hours. 👟 London Team Joins the World’s Largest Corporate Running Challenge! Around 40 staff members laced up their trainers and ran over 5k in the world’s largest corporate running challenge. A huge well done to everyone involved! So far, these amazing efforts have raised over £2k for MyBnk.
