Our Decommissioning Insight 2023 report offers a unique overview of the challenges and market opportunities in the sector which involve some of the biggest and most complex engineering projects ever faced in the North Sea. Key Findings 👇 ➡️ Shutting down obsolete North Sea energy installations is a business opportunity worth more than £20 billion over the next decade. ➡️ North Sea oil and gas production is declining by 7% a year, even with the latest round of new licences issued. ➡️ There are currently 283 active oil and gas fields in the North Sea. By 2030, 180 will have ceased production. Closing them without ongoing management of decline through new licensed production will mean a loss of homegrown energy which provides security and adds value to the economy. 🔗 Read the report: https://ow.ly/cpzk50RiWOb

If we choose a homegrown energy transition, we choosing to support 200,000 skilled people who work tirelessly from off the coast of Britain to deliver the energy that’s essential for transport, heating and industry but also for the everyday things that help us live a good life. We’ve set out detailed policies in our manifesto of what we need to make this happen 👇 ➡️ Adopt a centralised framework and infrastructure to transition skills – with a local solution ➡️ Support an energy skills passport ➡️ Invest in people and skills The energy transition is one of the biggest engineering challenges the UK has ever faced, but it’s also a massive opportunity for the brilliant people who built the sector that we’re so proud of today. We're ready to work with the new government to deliver a homegrown energy transition. Read our manifesto to find out more. 🔗 https://ow.ly/B2Ra50SsBlJ

We’re ready to work with the new government to deliver a homegrown energy transition that’s sustainable. The UK offshore energy sector can help meet the country’s net zero commitment by 2050 or sooner. A homegrown energy transition, means reducing emissions in UK energy production and making sure that we retain the world class supply chain needed to help the whole economy reach net zero. We’ve set out detailed policies in our manifesto of what we need to make this happen: ➡️ An independent statutory body with the powers and resources to oversee the delivery of UK energy objectives and binding net zero commitments ➡️ An industrial strategy, for the length and breadth of the UK, which leverages our world class supply chain ➡️ Prioritise investment in strategic infrastructure – upgrading posts, transmission systems, rail networks, grids and more We believe the UK can become a leading green industrial power, offering high quality employment for a skilled workforce driving strong economic growth. We can choose to get to net zero by making the most of our people’s skills and heritage or we can choose to increasingly rely on others. Choosing a homegrown energy transition will grow the economy, support jobs, champion our world class supply chain and deliver reliable supplies of cleaner energy in the UK. For the UK. Energy security is national security. A homegrown energy transition means choosing to deliver £200bn of private investment and to support 200,000 jobs. We’ve set out detailed policies in our manifesto of what we need to make this happen 👇 ➡️ Position the UK as an irresistible investment environment for energy production. ➡️ Deliver a self-sustaining low carbon energy sector at scale and pace through targeted market-based mechanisms. ➡️ Continue offering oil and gas production licences to attract investment in domestic oil and gas. ➡️ Champion UK led public and private research and development. The decarbonisation of our economy is one of the greatest opportunities of our time, and that's why we need to choose a homegrown energy transition. We're ready to work with the new government to unlock investment in the homegrown energy transition. Read our manifesto to find out more. 🔗 https://ow.ly/S69A50SAvzN

Navigating the Tides of Change – The Future for Offshore Energy 👇 The offshore energy landscape is transforming. As the UK looks to meet its net zero ambitions by 2050, the North Sea will play a crucial role in delivering the country’s needs. North Sea oil and gas production from the UK has powered the country for the last 50 years; now the UK boasts the second largest installed wind capacity in the world. The opportunity for the UK in the energy transition is huge, the question is how do we unlock those opportunities together? Join this SPE Live moderated by our CEO, David Whitehouse who will be joined by: ➡️ Simon Roddy (Senior Vice President of UK Upstream, Shell UK) ➡️ Rebecca Allison (Chief Operations Officer, Net Zero Technology Centre) ➡️ Sarah Bolson (Decommissioning Project Engineer, CNR International) We're looking forward to hearing their thoughts on what a future North Sea could look like by the end of the decade, the role that technology will play, and what steps the sector must take to retain and attract the skilled workforce necessary to deliver on the opportunity. Getting the energy transition right could mean big opportunities for our companies and people which will drive economic growth across the UK. It makes no economic sense to import the skills and the technologies needed to deliver the energy transition from other countries. Growing our existing world class supply chain has to be a priority on this mission. We know the UK energy supply chain has between 60% to 80% of the capabilities required to develop low carbon energies and we're ready to work with the new government to unlock investment in a homegrown energy transition.
