I’m getting into the habit of reflecting on my personal wins at the end of each week and today I’m feeling super smug, having successfully completed my volunteer training with the wonderful Shout UK 🎉 Over the past two months, I’ve been squirreling myself away in the evenings to study for my role as a volunteer crisis responder, where I will use my compassion, empathy, and newly-learnt skills to take someone in distress to a calmer moment. Having done my fair share of [often boring] online courses, I can’t rate Shout’s training programme highly enough! It’s been engaging and informative, not only teaching me the strategies I need to help texters take their next steps towards feeling better, but has given me invaluable skills that I plan to use in my work and personal life too.
