  • Sediment and Water Quality Study on the San Roque Dam: An assessment for heavy metal contamination after the 2012 Philex tailing dam spill, Pangasinan, Philippines.

    Principle aim of this project was to determine the detrimental impacts of the 2012 gold and copper mine tailing pond spill from the northern Agno River, Philippines. In addition, determine whether the spill was the main cause of the increased levels of heavy metals, COD, BOD, TSS in the surrounding areas of the San Roque Dam. The project used extensive analytical chemistry, with rigorous chemical analysis from ICP-MS, AAS machine.

  • Commonwealth of Dominica – Multi investigation on Morne aux Diable volcano, northern flanks

    Conducted a variety of surveys from observing the marine biodiversity to bathymetric sea-floor survey with the use of side-scan sonar in collaboration with senior lecturers from the University of Portsmouth, RGS and the governmental bodies of Commonwealth of Dominica. Personal responsibilities, was to conduct an aerial-borne kite survey of the northern flanks, inland geological survey, and collection of water and sediment samples from underwater hot springs.

    Conducted an investigation under the criteria of the Master’s course, where water and sediment samples were collected on and near the source of a landfill leachate in Malaysia. The area experienced problems from landfill leachate contamination (high heavy metal contamination). The study was to compare synthesised vs manufactured nano Zero Valent Iron nanoparticles (zVI) to the application of landfill leachate. The project was supported and worked closely with the Malaysian Government, Hydrogeology department.
