Let’s dive into the success story of Hyperli’s re-engagement campaign. In May 2018, Hyperli, a South African e-commerce platform, aimed to re-engage dormant subscribers in the Durban area. Here’s how they did it: Audience Segmentation and Personalization: Hyperli targeted their Durban-based subscribers who hadn’t engaged with their deals for a while. The subject line included recipients’ names, creating a personalized touch. Emojis were strategically used in the subject line to boost email open rates. Descriptive subject lines clarified the content of the email before recipients even opened it. Campaign Execution:The re-engagement email was sent to 70,300 subscribers. It featured four high-converting deals, impactful design, and two animated GIFs. The winning deal was the Nu Metro Movie Ticket sale, priced at R38.00 per ticket. Impressive Results: Out of the 70,300 subscribers, 17,997 unique contacts opened the email. A total of 3,862 recipients clicked through to the campaigns. Hyperli’s campaign surpassed industry benchmarks: 26% Open Rate (compared to the 23% e-commerce benchmark). 5.6% Click-Through Rate (compared to the 2.3% e-commerce benchmark) 1. Hyperli’s success factors included personalization, strategic subject lines, and engaging GIF animations. In less than a month South Africans will be heading to the polls to vote in their 7th democratic elections. 🇿🇦 This is the moment voters will be actively seeking out information about candidates, voting locations and campaign agendas. A lot of what my team and I focus on — when it comes to Google products — is making this info gathering easy and safe. For example... 🔎 On Search: When people search for topics like “how to vote,” they will find information about ID requirements, voting stations and more — linking to authoritative sources from our partners such as the IEC (Electoral Commission of South Africa). 🎫 On Ads: We were the first company to require advertisers to disclose when their election ads include synthetic content that inauthentically depicts real or realistic-looking people or events. 🧑‍💻On AI: We work with a tool from Google DeepMind called SynthID which directly embeds a digital watermark into AI-generated images and audio created with our tools. Despite the digital age, in South Africa, economically active consumers preferred identifier is swiping a card, and this has never been different for the many years when we have asked this question of South African consumers. We do see that WhatsApp usage is a growing platform in loyalty programmes and 37% of mass market consumers prefer WhatsApp as their loyalty identifier, as per the MoyaApp research. Watch this space.
