The team
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Script Producer to join the Emmerdale team. In this pivotal role, you will be the primary point of contact for writers and oversee the creative direction of all scripts. Your responsibilities will include attending and contributing to story conferences, reading storylines in advance, and offering creative and structural editing notes to producers on all submitted scripts. You will lead first draft script meetings and participate in second draft meetings, ensuring continuity, technical, schedule, and cast issues are addressed.

The role
As the Script Producer, you will read and sign off on all third drafts and final rehearsal scripts, maintaining script integrity. You'll attend Long Term Planning meetings, character workshops, and other creative sessions as needed. Managing the Script Editing team on a day-to-day basis, you will ensure efficiency, coordinate staff leave, and conduct regular performance reviews. Collaboration with directors will be essential to reflect the creative vision in each episode accurately.
During shooting, you will assist with script amendments and resolve issues as required by directors and crews, both on location and in the studio. You will also work with scheduling and production to deliver episodes on budget without compromising quality. Additional duties include managing the trial script system with the Senior Script Editor and mentoring and training Script Editors and Assistant Script Editors.

Skills you’ll need (minimum criteria)
- At least 2 years experience working within a script role at a senior level, preferably on a continuing drama.
- Experience of managing a department and developing people.
- Ability to deal with a wide range of personalities, on all levels, adapting style and approach as necessary.
- Experience working accurately under pressure, in order to meet tight production deadlines.
- Experience working with highly confidential information.
- Attention to detail.
- Excellent Written and Verbal Communication skills.
- Good knowledge of the Continuing Drama production process and experience working on a continuing drama in a script role.
- Experience working within production requirements and budgets.
- Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills.
- Knowledge and passion for Emmerdale.
- Excellent knowledge of the editorial process within continuing drama.
- Ability to deal with a wide range of personalities, on all levels, adapting style and approach as necessary.
- Knowledge and passion for Continuing drama and Emmerdale.
- Ability to work accurately under pressure, in order to meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent editorial judgement and an eye for detail.
- Good knowledge of all the elements that go into making a programme.
- Ability to generate creative ideas whilst displaying an awareness of production requirements and budgets.
- Positive attitude even in stressful situations.
