Dangerous Heat in the Western U.S.; Heavy Rain and Flooding Potential in the Southern Rockies and Southwest

Widespread high temperatures in the 90s with heat indices exceeding 100 degrees will persist across the western U.S. this weekend into the week. There are fire weather concerns in the Pacific Northwest and the Great Basin. Excessive Heat Warnings will be in effect Monday afternoon through Wednesday Evening for the East Bay Hills and Interior Valleys, Eastern Santa Clara Hills, Santa Lucia Mountains and Los Padres National Forest, Mountains of San Benito, and Interior Monterey County including Pinnacles National Park. Expect Dangerously hot conditions with daytime temperatures reaching the upper 90s to lower 100s. Far inland temperatures may reach 108 degrees. Overnight temperatures will be warm and in the 60s and 70s. Heat Advisories have been issued Monday afternoon through Wednesday evening for interior portions of the North Bay, South Bay, Santa Cruz Mountains, and Southern Salinas Valley with daytime temperatures reaching the 90s to near 100. Overnight temperatures will be mild and in the upper 50s to near 70.
A Coastal Flood Advisory is in effect until 2 AM Tuesday for the bayside shorelines of San Francisco Bay and San Pablo Bay. Tidal levels are increasing as a result of higher astronomical tides. Low lying areas within the SF Bay Area may see minor flooding as a result during high tide.
