Dodge County Fire Department: Man drowns in Ocmulgee River

Operations resumed on Monday and a victim was recovered.

DODGE COUNTY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Dodge County Fire Department says a man was swept under water by the swift current in the Ocmulgee River and drowned on Sunday.

Dodge County Fire and EMA were dispatched to the McCranie Boat Landing for a possible drowning around 7 p.m.

Dive teams searched on Sunday evening, but had to cease operations due to operational constraints.

Operations resumed on Monday and a victim was recovered at 9:34 a.m. The victim has been identified as a 33-year-old Hispanic male, but his name has not been released.
