Product Description

HeatnBond Hem is a roll of iron-on, double-sided adhesive for easily and permanently hemming garments and home decor without any sewing.

From the manufacturer

HeatnBond Hem Iron-On Adhesive, Super Weight, 3/4 Inch x 8 Yards

HeatnBond Hem is a roll of iron-on, double-sided adhesive for easily and permanently hemming garments and home décor without any sewing.

Features & Benefits:

  • 3/4 in x 8 yards (19 mm x 7.3 m)
  • Super Weight – for heavier fabrics such as; heavy cotton, denim, suede, wool and corduroy
  • Heat activated
  • Permanent
  • Double-sided adhesive
  • For use on fabric
  • No-sew, simply iron the hem together! Creates a clean hem in seconds!
  • No paper liner or backing paper on this roll.

General Directions

Pre-wash all materials without fabric softeners. Pre-test adhesive on materials before starting project.

  1. Preheat iron to medium heat, no steam.
  2. Turn item inside-out or turn over.
  3. Measure & press new hem into the fabric.
  4. Place Tape inside the new folded hem.
  5. Place iron on fabric and hold with firm pressure for 8 seconds on each section, slightly overlapping, until the entire surface is bonded.
  6. Turn item right side out and iron fabric for additional 3 seconds on each section, slightly overlapping, until the entire surface is bonded.

Tips:

  • Pre-wash all materials (without fabric softener) you will be using prior to fusing
  • Do not touch iron directly to the Hem Tape. Do not iron directly to your ironing board. There is not a protective paper backing and the adhesive will melt to your iron or your ironing board. You must sandwich this adhesive between the two layers of fabric to be fused before applying your iron
  • Machine wash delicate cycle warm, tumble dry low heat or no heat (and in accordance to garment / fabric washing directions). Avoid repeated or excessive ironing to the area after fusing. DO NOT DRY CLEAN

What's in the box

This was so easy to use and saved us so much money. You’d never know we used an adhesive hem kit. The first picture has the original curtain length on the left and the hemmed curtain on the right. I accidentally ironed the adhesive directly causing my iron to get gunked up, but with a little goo-gone and warmth it came off great and I was able to finish the project without another hitch. So beware the direction your ironing while pressing these on, but otherwise it works perfect and a great solution for someone trying to save some money.

I needed a few pants hemmed but ran out of time before my upcoming trip. I decided to give these a try and they were a true lifesaver! I was unsure how well this tape would hold up, but they work amazingly well and held my pants in place the entire time. It's like adheres your pants almost like a fabric version of superglue at the part that you fold up. It has held up in the wash so far without any sign of coming apart. And it was so quick and easy to use. I will be relying on these heavily since I am only 5'0" tall and most pants do not fit me.

This worked for shortening a pair of work pants. It was tricky to get started, you just have to get the hang of it. It took a bit for it to adhere, so I had to be patient while ironing.

Used this to hem some ikea curtains. I like that the ikea curtains are longer but they always need hemming. This was a pretty easy solve and it's been about 6 weeks and they are holding up great. When hemming a curtain that is Lacey, I wrapped the iron with aluminum foil so that it wouldn't get the main plate sticky. Worked really well. I suggest you iron the fold first to get a good crease then apply the tape. When applying it is good to go slow but keep moving. It took about 5 minutes a panel to get the measurement right and and then another 5 to slowly heat the glue up as I moved down the seam.

I recently purchased the Heat Bond Fabric Tape to experiment with some patching on clothes. While my particular experiment didn't yield the results I was hoping for, I can't fault the performance of this tape.

The tape did its job admirably well. It adhered securely to the fabric, holding it in place effectively. I appreciated how easy it was to use, although using an iron was a bit of an inconvenience for me.

Despite my experiment not turning out as expected, I believe the fault lies more with my technique rather than the tape itself. For anyone looking for a reliable fabric tape for quick fixes or patches, this product is definitely worth considering.

Overall, I'm satisfied with the performance of the Heat Bond Fabric Tape and would recommend it to others seeking a simple solution for fabric repairs or alterations.

I don't understand how anyone has a problem with this . U don't have to be crafty... U need to know how to make a fold. See, this stuff looks like a tape but it's more... Think of string, glued and dried so what ur doing is melting glue. Turn clothes inside out and then stuff a piece of this stuff in there. U don't have to lay it perfectly, just make sure none is sticking out because it might be hard to get off ur iron but thats worst thing that's gonna happen. So u heat iron up somewhere safe and away from flammable things as ur folding and placing tape all around it .. then lay the hot iron (I had it set in middle like shown in pic) and it's been preheated so it's hot. Put in on the fold for a few seconds and flip to other side . U can feel by listening and feeling for roughness if it's melted before going to next side. Let it cool and then feel it, it should feel like it's all glued together but not super glue hard .. its like a billion threads lumped together.
Now the only issue was a spot with no tape. It was the seam and it immediately lifted so I put a small piece of this in there and hit it again with the iron but maybe a second longer to get through the thicker stitches. Leaving openings without tape... Does it stuff hold forever? No. Not like going and getting it hemmed but my son has wore his uniform pants all year (sept thru may, so far) and its still doing its job but the seam has came off so that one spot gets his foot stuck every time he puts them on, but its still up enough that i haven't touched it up, yet. When i do, im just going to put tape in the parts that lost it and keep the rest that held good still intact. It has worked just as well on every material too, from flare yoga pants to school uniform pants. Very different material but same results.

This is a game changer. I was tired of always spending money at the dry cleaners to hem pants for my husband and 3 boys. This hemming tape works really well and paid for itself after I hemmed the first pair of pants. It's very easy to use. I was able to hem 4 pairs of pants and still had plenty left over for curtains!!
