My aero garden just started malfunctioning and I am replacing it with a hope garden. So far the size is great. It was very easy to set up (not heavy). I love that I can see the water level from the front of the unit. No rubber parts that can break down over time and creat a mess. And, this may sound trivial but they included a seed tweezer and it actually picks up the tiniest of seeds. Everything was included that I needed except for the seeds of course. I am impressed with this company I visited their website to check out their prices and everything you need for upkeep is very very reasonable. I am most likely going to buy their large floor unit. The maintenance looks much easier than the gardyn and it holds 60 plants instead of 30. It is also very reasonably priced. I am becoming a fan of this company.
I will update after a month or so.

This thing is great! Easy to set up and works as advertised! Love that it's on a timer so I don't have to remember to turn on/off the lights. Motor is so quiet I had to take off the top to see if it was even on! Everything is high quality, the machine is beautiful and well made. The light doesn't slide up and down as easily as I'd like but now that I've had it a while I like that. It won't ever slip down or move if you bump it and I'm assuming it will last a long time. (Just pull it up right at/around the telescoping arm.) I was surprised how bright the light is, so I'm finding I'm using the lights in my kitchen less! Great instructions, quick guide is like a big greeting card on nice thick card stock. User manual is 17pgs of a nice coated paper and even has a spot for notes about your grow. I planted about a week and a half ago and I have 10 pods with plants! I did remove the stickers after they popped up because I plan to reuse them. Just my sage hasn't germinated yet but it says it can take 20days, so I'm hopeful they will sprout up soon! Comes with everything you need, only complaint is you only get 6 little stems for labels but there is a hole for one next to each pod, so I just used 1 per row, not a huge deal and once they get big I won't need them anyway! I purchased a 2nd one to grow some veggies since I'm keeping this one for just herbs! *updated to add pics a month later! I love using fresh herbs when cooking and my Lettuce is coming along nicely!

This is my second garden, as the first one is planted in herbs of various kinds -- I went on 6-weeks of travel, so I'm having to replant it, otherwise I would post some pictures -- as the plants were really large and full. As long as you watch the water level and keep the nutrient solutions replenished, then you will not have much problem growing plants that are applicable to a small garden like herbs, Lettuce, Peppers, Tomato's, etc.... just follow the instructions --- it's pretty easy. I'm moving forward with banana peppers, and we will see how they do -- I think they will probably grow pretty well. These gardens are economical and provide produce all year long, and they grow much faster than in soil. I've not had any trouble except a pump that got tangled up with roots (my own. fault) ... I got the clear one this time, so I can see the roots from the outside

Update: June 6. After thinking the basil explosion, I set up several different types of lettuce. Romaine, red leaf, and chard have all done extremely well. I am able to make good salads using all of them. Spinach didn't do well, not I'm trying again in case it was just error.
Original post: I purchased this unit on March 6th. It is April 26th. I planted seeds right after it was delivered and followed the instructions in the guide. My basil has gone completely insane and my other herbs are not too far behind. This has been ridiculously simple. Low to no maintenance. Now I just have to figure out what to do with this much basil!
Note: the third picture is the root system from the basil. It reached out and grabbed hold of all the other sponges, so I removed the basil and transplanted it to soil (we'll see if that works). Moral of the story: check on the roots periodically.
