Stuck in a rut? Know what you want but don’t know how to get it? Feel like life is passing you by? Sick of getting mediocre results? Then enter the wonderful world of Liquid Thinking…

A practical, jargon-free and easily accessible self-help book drawing on a diverse range of experiences and containing digestible lessons and exercises used by sports captains, charity leaders and business leaders. It is the only self-help book which has ever been endorsed by Sir Richard Branson, Angelo Dundee, Muhammad Ali, and Jonny Wilkinson.

It is a brave man who starts his book on self development by quoting Jerry Springer and discussing the literary merits of the Joy of Sex; however, this is Damian Hughes to a tee. Combining his own experiences as a Manchester United football coach, HR Director and youth club leader with exclusive insights from Sir Richard Branson, Angelo Dundee, Muhammad Ali and Jonny Wilkinson, Hughes will help you to step forward to achieve your own special hopes, dreams and ambition.

The books have been credited with helping people build their own houses, fight cancer and run marathons, so come on and be a fellow Liquid Thinker!

Let me start by saying that I don't believe in self help books or the usual corporate mind set lessons. As a result, I surprised myself as to how useful this book was. I was given the book as a gift (as I said I don't normally read this sort of thing), and started reading this with a cynical view of the content. This was quickly dispelled, however, by the simple and direct nature of the observations and the everyday examples of how winners applied these approaches. In particular, the opening section on taking responsibility for your own actions and reverting your thinking that you "are the cause rather than the effect" is very powerful. It certainly changed my outlook as I started up a new business of my own. Very impressed and much more than you'd expect.

5.0 out of 5 stars A gem of a book

Read it from start to finish or dip in when you need inspiration, encouragement, or something to challenge your thinking. Packed with straightforward - but highly practical- advice and lessons from all walks of life, this is an easily read book based on academic thinking and practical experiences that comes across as a labour of love for the author. Whatever change you might be thinking about or struggling to make this book will have something practical and helpful to say to you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Authentic, convincing, inspiring

There is a Buddhist saying "when the pupil is ready to learn, the teacher will appear". Damian Hughes is that teacher. I knew I should learn to drive but also knew I was struggling with motivation and confidence. This book helped me to identify just how much I want to be a driver, provided the tools to silence the negative inner talk, spurred me on to book lessons and set a challenging timescale for reaching the goal of passing my test. I enjoy 'self-help' type books as a genre but I think this is the first time I've found one that is properly useful.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great book
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on July 8, 2015
Read it twice now and will probably read it again soon in the not too distant future. Can't say Ive noticed a huge a huge change yet but some of my goals are longer term goals. The themes in this book I've heard repeated now on several occasions by others so I'm prepared to carry on trying. It seems to make sense. At the end of the day it's not just about what's in the book but the persistence of application.
