This hat protects from the sun very well. The size is also adjustable at the pony tail holder. This is the second hat I've bought like this and both were the beige color, but you should know that it's really a stone color or off white. The hat arrives wrinkled, mainly on top. I sprayed the wrinkles with water and it turns out it's also waterproof. So, I stuffed a towel in the top to fill it out, then sprayed and rubbed the water in. It did lessen the wrinkles. Once in the sun it eventually relaxes the wrinkles when you're wearing the hat.
