Sincerely, The Duke is the second novel in the historical romance Say I Do trilogy about dukes needing to wed to tap into their wealth by New York Times bestselling author Amelia Grey.

Miss Edwina Fine has one shot at finding a husband before the ton learns her secret. With red hair, green eyes and being one of triplets, she knows the superstitions and rumors about women like her. So when a marriage proposal from the Duke of Stonerick arrives by mail, Edwina jumps at the chance to solve her problems. But nothing could prepare her for the attraction that sparks between them when they finally meet. It will take more than Edwina’s wit to navigate her past, reservations about marriage and the passion that ignites within her for the irresistible duke.

Rick, Duke of Stonerick, enjoys his life exactly as it is: honing his expert marksmanship, playing cards and fencing with his friends. He even enjoys exchanging affectionate humor with his mother about his lack of matrimonial engagement. But when a recurring illness reminds Rick he has no heir, he picks a name from the list of prospects his mother presents and writes a simple marriage proposal. Then he forgets about it―until that very lady with an iron will and breathtaking bravery shows up at his doorstep, ready to accept. Edwina tempts him like no other and suddenly, marriage doesn’t seem much of an inconvenience after all. But will keeping his illness a secret cost him her love?

Silly Superstitions and Bad Advice 😆
I have been a fan of Amelia Grey's for many years now and she just never disappoints! This is book 2 in the Say I Do series. Rick was my 2nd favorite character in book 1, well maybe my 3rd lol. I love that he randomly picked a name off his mother's list to marry. The chemistry between Rick and Edwina is palpable! They are both hiding secrets and are perfectly suited personality wise.I don't want to give anything away but let's just say Edwina's secret is all based on a silly superstition that has haunted her and her sisters there whole lives and Rick is hiding a pretty serious illness. They advice Edwina gets leads her into some pretty hilarious situations as does Rick's stubbornness. This book has it all! I laughed out loud, felt all the feelings, and swooned until I couldn't stand myself.

This is a lovely story with wonderful characters. The Duke of Stonerick needs to get married and makes an impetuous pick. Miss Edwina Fine receives the unusual proposal and decides to accept. From here on out the plot becomes exciting as they get to know everything about each other. The dialogue between two headstrong characters often becomes heated as they challenge each other. It makes for a page turning story that is well worth reading.

I love historical romance stories, and trilogies are a special favorite. Author Amelia Grey writes some of the best, and Sincerely, The Duke is a shining example. In Book 2 of the author’s Say I Do series, we have another duke who needs to save his title or wealth or property or produce an heir, and a delightfully unusual and independent woman who will keep him on his toes. In this case Rick, Duke of Stonerick and Miss Edwina Fine are that couple.

Rick has no interest whatsoever in being married, but his mother is very, very insistent and he’s been plagued recently by a recurring illness and finally acknowledges to himself that maybe he better go ahead and secure that heir He keeps his illness a secret but does rather cavalierly – and not at all sincerely - dash off a letter that basically says, “Will you marry me? Sincerely, The Duke of Stonerick” and tells his mother she can send it to the woman he random picked off her list of eligible candidates.

Edwina made a promise to her father on his deathbed: she would do whatever it took to ensure she and her two sisters are married before the end of the Season, whether her sisters wish to be married or not. You might think sounds simple or what’s the big deal, but Edwina and her sisters are triplets, with red hair and green eyes – oh no! Bad luck, spells, not welcome in society. After their mother died their father kept them effectively hidden. Edwina takes her promise very seriously, even if the red hair/green eyes thing sounds a bit wacky to us.

Well, wouldn’t you know that Rick’s letter somehow does get mailed – to Edwina – who promptly shows up on his doorstep to accept in person. He did in fact sign his name to that letter so being a gentleman means he needs to honor it. Funny thing (that gets funnier and funnier in this charming story) is that this duke who doesn’t see the point in marriage is immediately smitten with this woman. And Edwina – opinionated but inexperienced and unassuming – is smitten right back.

Rick and Edwina are hilarious together. He’s forceful yet tender, but secretive. She doesn’t “exactly” lie but doesn’t “exactly” tell him she’s a triplet because there are so many superstitious people out there, including his mother, and she really needs this marriage to happen. And wants it, too. They spar and argue, wonder about the undeniable attraction and heat, and are drawn to each other as if in a magnetic field.

Sincerely, The Duke is sweet, steamy, silly and extremely satisfying. Everything you want in an historical romance, everything you’ve come to expect from author Grey, and every bit as good as the first book in the series. I can’t wait for the third book in the trilogy.

Thanks to St. Martin’s Press for providing an advance copy of Sincerely, The Duke via NetGalley. I recommend it without hesitation and voluntarily leave this review; all opinions are my own.

Edwina and Rick came together in the most unusual way. They decided to make a marriage of convenience that would benefit both of them. Rick had adjusted well and grew emotionally during the time they were married. Overall, the book was nice.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC. My opinions are my own.

Sincerely, The Duke was an enjoyable read featuring a romance between a duke and a woman hiding a secret from the world.

Miss Edwina Fine has one chance to find a husband before the ton finds out the secret she's been hiding about her and her sisters. When she receives a marriage proposal from the Duke of Stonerick by mail, Edwina knows this is the answer to her prayers. Rick enjoys his life exactly as it is but after a recurring illness returns, it reminds Rick that he has no heir and needs to marry. With pressure from his mother, Rick picks a name from a list she presents and sends out a simple proposal before promptly forgetting about it. But when Edwina arrives on his doorstep, Rick is captivated by her boldness and suddenly marriage doesn't seem like such a bad thing.

The premise of this series, sending out marriage proposals by mail, is such a fun one and like the first book, I really enjoyed enjoyed how it plays out in this book. Sincerely, The Duke opens with Rick visiting his mother who is lamenting the fact Rick isn't married and doesn't have children while his cousin does. Rick's exasperation with his mother was amusing and I loved how it led to him choosing a random name from a list and sending out a marriage proposal to a woman he had never met. When Edwina arrives, Rick had entirely forgotten what happened and it was a great first meeting between the two.

I liked Edwina and Rick together and thought the connection that formed between them was great. Edwina is outspoken and Rick really likes that about her which I loved. Their relationship progresses pretty quickly and there's a scene at the start of their marriage that was hilarious which set the tone for a number of their interactions. One thing I didn't really love about their romance is that they both keep things from each other initially. Edwina hides the fact she is a triplet for so long and Rick keeps his recurring illness hidden from Edwina. There's also a ton of superstitious nonsense in the book centered around Edwina's character which got old pretty quickly. Aside from those two issues, I did like the pair's romance and thought it developed nicely over the course of the book.

Overall Sincerely, The Duke was a great read and I'm looking forward to picking up the next book in the series, Love, The Duke, when it releases next year.
