From the Manufacturer

Touch on. Touch off. With this Leland Single-Handle Pull-Down Sprayer Touch2O Kitchen Faucet in Chrome Featuring MagnaTite Docking, it doesn't matter if you have two full hands or ten messy fingers. Tap anywhere on the spout or handle of the faucet with your hand, wrist or forearm to start and stop the flow of water. Thoughtfully designed to make kitchen tasks easier, Touch2O Technology allows you to turn the faucet on and off with just a touch anywhere on the faucet's spout or handle. It was the first innovation of its kind on the market, and now offers more styles, finishes and options than ever. Designed for precise, responsive control every time, no matter where you touch. You can easily control and change the water temperature above the deck using the faucet handle. All Touch2O models are water-efficient, underlining Delta's comittment to conservation. The pull-down spray wand comes free with a gentle tug and gives you total flexibility. The hose extends and retracts without friction points, fed by gravity. As you raise the wand to dock it, the magnet embedded in the spout pulls the wand precisely into place. So, unlike other pull-downs that tend to droop over time, MagnaTite keeps your pull-down faucet looking picture-perfect. Delta's exclusive DIAMOND Seal Technology uses a valve with a tough diamond coating. InnoFlex PEX waterways keep water inside the faucet out of contact with potential metal contaminants. This powerful combination brings you a faucet built to last up to five million uses. Only Delta faucets are equipped with Touch-Clean soft, rubber nubbins that allow you to easily wipe away calcium and lime build-up with the touch of a finger.

I looked for a while and was almost ready to purchase a touchless faucet when I read reviews that it would turn on by itself or not work correctly and then found this touch one and honestly, a much better decision. It works great to just touch with your wrist to turn off and on. The hot and cold high while neat really provides little value but does let me know when we start getting hot water. The multiple spray options are nice as well as is the power wash which is a bit hard to see int eh picture but has a high-pressure stream inside that really cleans off the food from plates, etc. Instructions were easy enough to follow and get everything connected. I did add thread tape just in case as that wasn't included. The only cons I can think of are that the battery pack has no hanger or Velcro to hang it somewhere as it just sits on the floor of the cabinet taking up space and I used c batteries so hopefully don't have to touch the battery box for years and the range of the hot/cold isn't very far compared to the Kohler it replaced but not really a big deal, just different. Would definitely recommend to anyone needing a new kitchen faucet.

First, for context: I am not a plumber; before this product, I had never installed a faucet before (kitchen or otherwise); and no one would ever mistake me for having any kind of experience that would qualify me as anything other than a total and complete novice at installing faucets. That said, for the reasons below, I would recommend this faucet AND recommend a DIY installation.

I did a LOT of research and reading reviews before purchasing this Delta faucet (SpotShield Stainless). Our old kitchen sink faucet was another well-known and expensive brand (starts with "M"), but after just four years it kept coming loose from the countertop and then started leaking profusely. I was determined not to repeat that with a new faucet. I was a little hesitant about getting a "touch" faucet given the wide range of reviews on point, but after digging into things, I decided to go with this Delta "touch" faucet. A month into using it, here are my thoughts on the DIY installation and product itself:

1. DECIDING TO DO A DIY INSTALLATION
I decided to install the faucet myself for several reasons. Nothing against plumbers, but some reviewers suggested that installing this faucet yourself may result in the "touch" feature working better, as you may pay greater attention to detail during the installation. I don’t know how true that is, but so far so good. Also, I wasn’t keen on paying someone else to install it, and while I had never done this before, I like a challenge. And a number of reviewers recommended watching a video that Delta made on installing this specific faucet (available on Youtube), so I figured I had at least a decent chance of not messing it up.

2. SKIP THE WRITTEN INSTRUCTIONS, WATCH THE VIDEO(!!!)
I tried reading through the instructions first, but they might as well have been written in Greek (spoiler alert, I don’t know Greek). So I watched the Delta DIY video all the way through and felt WAY better about deciding to do it myself. I do recommend watching the entire video BEFORE you start installation, so you know what to expect. It’s pretty short (I think less than 15 minutes) and worth that additional watch. I then set up my laptop by the sink and paused the video after each installation step so I could complete the step and get ready for the next one.

3. DIY INSTALLATION WAS SMOOTH AND TOOK LESS THAN 2 HRS (INCLUDING BEER BREAK)
Based on some of the reviews I read, I was prepared for the DIY installation to take all afternoon. As it turns out, even taking my time, installation took less than two hours, including 25-30 minutes to remove the old faucet, a beer break to celebrate removing the old faucet, and testing the new faucet to make sure it didn’t leak, etc. Especially with the video, each step was pretty straight forward. And I was particularly careful on the steps that related to the “touch” feature. At some points it would have helped to have longer arms, but I managed. (For reference, I am a 5’6” female with normal-length arms.)

4. ONE PERSON CAN DO FULL INSTALLATION
The video notes in a couple of places that having a second person can be helpful for certain steps, but also shows how to do them with one person. At the time I decided to do the installation, I was the only one home. While I can see where having a second would have helped for some steps, I was definitely able to manage pretty well on my own.

5. MINIMAL TOOLS NEEDED
I only needed a screwdriver and a wrench, as well as a monkey wrench to help hold pipes still while tightening parts. Most people probably won’t need the monkey wrench, but it was helpful in my case because of limited space to maneuver under our sink.

6. DELTA FAUCET APPEARS TO HAVE HIGHER-QUALITY PARTS
As I am not a professional, I’m not sure how much weight anyone should give this observation, but it appeared to me that this Delta faucet has higher-quality parts than our old “M”-brand faucet. This was especially apparent with respect to the “anchor” part that secures the base of the faucet to the countertop (it seemed much more substantial).

7. “TOUCH” FEATURE WORKS GREAT (SO FAR)
As noted above, I read a range of reviews regarding the “touch” feature. Some people said that the feature stopped working after just a couple of weeks or months. One month in, we have not had any issues with the “touch” feature. As our faucet gets A LOT of use, and we use the “touch” feature almost exclusively, I think this a fairly good point of reference.

Note that the faucet comes packaged with a battery pack to power this feature, but you can purchase an add-on that will allow you to plug into an electrical outlet. We are using the battery pack and will see how long the first set of batteries lasts (reviews varied a lot on this point as well).

I will note that it took me a day or two to get a hang of the “touch” feature, but once I did, things were great. Everyone else in family (kids and adults) got the hang of it right away.

8. WE LOVE THE “TOUCH” FEATURE
We do a lot of cooking and baking and thus spend a lot of time in the kitchen and using the sink. We all love the “touch” feature and never want to go back to a fully “manual” faucet.

* * *

If anything changes, I will update this review. But so far, so good!

I've gone through two "cheap" Price-Pfister kitchen faucets in the last three years. They were $75-$85 each, which isn't cheap for me, but I guess that's the low end quality-wise. Within a year, they both eventually started leaking and shooting water around the spray head, and on the first one the pull-out hose frayed and started leaking. Price-Pfister said it would be 8 weeks for "backordered" replacement parts to arrive. I certainly couldn't wait that long with water spraying everywhere, so I bought a new one. And even worse, I never heard from them again and didn't receive any replacement parts. Dismal customer service! No more Price-Pfister products for our house!

This time I decided to spend a little more and get a Delta. I read lots and lots of reviews before choosing this Leland kitchen faucet. It arrive today, and I quickly emptied out the stuff from under the kitchen sink and got to work installing it.

It installed very quickly and easily - probably 45 minutes including reading the instructions and removing the old faucet. I needed a crescent wrench, plain and Phillips screwdrivers, a towel for drips, and the plastic wrench they included in the box. The instructions are easy to follow and have lots of diagrams, so even a novice "plumber" can install this faucet. The only thing I didn't like during installation is the hot and cold water lines. They are stiff plastic and are too long for under my sink. Eventually I'll cut them off shorter, but for today I just hooked them up and left them looming under the sink with the cleaning products. They are supposed to coil in a circle to take up extra line, but they were too stiff to do it without risking crimping the lines.

I read in another review that suggested applying some silicone grease to the pull out hose, so I ordered Novagard G661 General Purpose Lubricating, Protecting and Dielectric Silicone Compound here on Amazon and applied it. It makes the hose slip in and out of the faucet neck without any friction or yanking.

After installing the faucet and flushing the lines out (and checking for leaks under the sink!), I washed a few dishes and got a feel for it. I will say, it's BIG and tall, especially compared to the PF faucet I just slam dunked in the trash. The size will take a little getting used to, but it does look good on my sink. I really like that the long swivel neck allows me to run water in all parts of my double sink without even using the pull-out head.

The water stream is strong - I was afraid this model would have a water restrictor on it, but it doesn't seem to. The stream switches from plain to shower mode with a squeeze on the button on the head. I love the magnet that securely holds the head in place on the neck when not in use.

I'm not sure I love the water adjustment handle, but it works well. There's only 2-3 inches of movement in the handle when going from hot to cold, on to off. Also, "off" is up and "on" is down, which is opposite of my old faucets. I didn't have trouble adjusting the temperature once I practiced a little, but it's different than anything I've used before.

The chrome finish on my faucet is just gorgeous, as is the shape of the whole unit. The only part that isn't metal is the shower head on the pull-out part, but it's substantially thick plastic with chrome plating. I imagine this faucet will look good years from now. The base of the faucet is wide, so those with limited space behind their sink might not be able to use it. I had several inches of room so it fit just fine.

I like that they included extra gaskets and that the aerator can be removed and cleaned with the included wrench if it gets blocked by sand from our well water. But the best part of all is the Delta reputation and warranty. I feel confident that buying this expensive (for me) faucet will pay off in not having to repeat this job again in a year or two. If something goes wrong with this faucet, Delta stands behind their products.

I'll update this review if I have anything good or bad to add to it. I'm going to upload some photos once I post this review. Until then, I do recommend this faucet for anyone who is tired of cheap faucets letting them down.

Edited 14 June 2012: I've used my new faucet for a couple of months now, and I really love it. It looks stylish and I especially love the long range of the neck and hose.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best faucet I've ever installed and used

As a professional home renovator, I have installed and used many different faucets over the years, and this is my favorite out of all that I've tried. I used to consider Delta a budget brand but this is a very high quality unit. I've had it in my own kitchen for over 2 years and have not had any of the issues that other reviewers have mentioned. I find it superbly well designed, the water control is easy and intuitive, the magnetic catch for the pulldown is a great feature, and the stream/spray switch is positive and stays where you leave it when you turn the water off and on again. Any faucet will have the occasional manufacturing defect, and if you are unlucky enough to have that experience I would encourage you to get it repaired under warranty rather than return it.

We finally had enough of our replacement pf (PoS!!!) faucet and decided we couldn't get rid of it soon enough. Did some research online and the Delta 9178-AR-DST came back with excellent reviews. The Amazon price was $100 less than HD, which was an order-in anyway so Amazon got the call.

Installation was easy as we'd done this just recently with the crappy pf. The Delta has a nice flow rate and the head swivels smoothly. The control handle works well also - just be sure it's parked in the center detente or you may get a drip.

All-in-all, a nice looking, good operating excellent value - highly recommended!

This faucet is very nice and looks great in my kitchen. It retracts well and is easy to keep clean Overall it works well but I did have to take one star away because when I switch from spray to solid stream water it drips a bit near the side when the water is on. If I press the switch harder it stops dripping.

A beautiful faucet! We bought this to go with a Kraus undermount sink that we also found on Amazon. This faucet complements the sink very nicely. It's a sturdy and striking faucet, without being too overbearing ( I find that some of the more "industrial" looking faucets are too large and bulky looking).
In terms of functionality, it is easy to use and the water flow is perfect, and can be adjusted easily. Love this faucet, and I'm so glad we found it for our kitchen.

1.0 out of 5 stars I love the design

I love the design, the colour, the easy to use pull down sprayer, and the quality of the faucet in general and it would be a 5 star BUT the button that switches from spray to even flow sticks and needs to be pressed firmly to prevent dribbling out of the back of the faucet head when using. When I do get it flowing without dribbling and I turn it off, the dribbling is back when I turn it back on... especially annoying as it soaks the side of the kettle and small pans when filling. I had this installed by a master plumber and after months of kitchen renovations the idea of having to replace the faucet is not something I am looking forward to, but this issue is just too annoying to keep it. The only problem is that we purchased the faucet well ahead of time so that it was here ready when the kitchen was being installed, so I cannot return it to Amazon. My husband is going to have a quick look at it and call Delta fro help. I will update and review my star rating when we resolve this issue.
