This is good sun protection that covers your face ears and back nicely and has a ponytail spot. Looks kind of strange on, but if it is nessassary that you stay out of the sun this hat is for you too.

These types of hats have been around in history for millennia and for a good reason, i just didn't know the benefit of them since i have personally worked on hot climates without AC but never for extended periods directly under the sun other than working on my car for 20-30 minutes, and during this heat wave, that has been pretty hot for what i am accustomed to.

Knowing that i would be working under the sun for extended periods of time, i ordered this hat and i just can't believe the huge difference it makes under the sun on this extreme heat, even while you are receiving head, your head and neck play a vital part on how you perceive that heat, and i don't know exactly how this work but the fabric here feels like it reflects part of the heat away from you aside that providing shade by blocking it.

I mention reflect aside from the inevitable absorption because the hat doesn't feel super hot while wearing it, which means it is reflecting part of the heat away and even while we don't notice the technology on something as simple as fabrics (moisture wicking, heat deflection) definitely makes a difference and it was present in this product.

It feels comfortable, fit was great on my head without being tight and i didn't even need to secure it with the straps, but they are available if you need them in a windy day, also includes a vent on top to let sweat vapors breathe away from your head and contribute with keeping it as cool as possible during the extreme heat.

Overall, any time where i am doing anything for over 2 minutes under the sun i reach for the hat, the difference is dramatic, and if you haven't tried it, i recommend this one!

This hat is amazing. I have a two-pack of a similar style with no neck flap, but this is heads and tails better quality and material than those, and now I want more. The brim is wide and I'm here for it. The band is adjustable. The fabric is thick but breathable. The top back flips up to a mesh panel to cool off that hot head. I have even flipped up the neck flap (for me it can trap heat if there's no breeze) and used the neck cord over my head to hold it in place. It's large enough that I can't imagine a head that would be uncomfortable in this. My top knot fit under it so comfortably that I forgot how/that I had my hair up when I was trying this on the first time, but it also has the ponytail vent in case you need that. The brim is thick and substantial, and holds its shape after washing. There was a tiny little crease/bend when it arrived, but that's minor considering the condition most of these brims are in if you buy them through the mail, and sometimes they don't ever straighten out (which doesn't bother me at all, but it's worth a mention). Those nice details and the quality make this so much more than an average (3-star) product, it's absolutely worth the money. (I did receive this for a discounted rate, but have purchased for my partner who has a very large head.) Oh, I also love that there's no branding anywhere on it. (My others have embroidered logos.)

It would be nice to also have a mask built-in in the front to protect your face from the sun but this does an adequate job of protecting your posterior neck and top of the head from the sunlight. It is lightweight and keeps your head surprisingly cool in the heat.

This is a very well designed sun projection hat that comes in one very adjustable size (it even fits my pretty large head). The size is easily adjustable with the built-in pull string and spring loaded clamp at the back and the chin strap easily tightens with a similar push-button spring clamp. It’s made with very lightweight and breathable material but the stitching all appears to be good quality and durable. There’s also a densely meshed ventilation area along the back for added breathability. The pony tail opening at the top of the neck flap is a nice touch that makes this great for men or women with long hair but I wish they had added a button or closure of some kind for those of us without the need for it since it creates a bit of a gap at the back of shorter/thinner heads of hair.
Other than that minor issue, this is a very lightweight and breathable sun protection hat that fits a wide variety of head sizes, offers a lot of coverage, and sells for a very fair price. Solid five stars.

These are well made. They are comfortable as well. The elastic headband adjustment is effective. There is good protection for the back of the neck but due to the way the fabric drapes from the back half of the hat I find that the side of my neck is still exposed. If you are trying to get better protection for the side and even face, a larger brim and more encompassing curtain would be more effective
