This book is very interesting and eye opening. I read it because my cholesterol had gone up and i was worried, but not any more. The authors use the results of many medical studies to prove their point that using statins to lower cholesterol does not prevent heart disease and comes with many risks, some serious.

I really enjoyed this book and the characters. The narrator is good but I don't like the way she keeps dropping her t's hundreds of times during the book. I find it annoying and unnecessary. E,g, Bu--er for butter. War-er for water. Le--er for letter. She does this for most of Millie's books but not in the last one I listened to ( It's raining men) which made a nice change. Colleen, please pronounce the t's, they are there for a reason!

I really enjoyed this book, and I thought the narrator was good, too, unlike another reviewer.

I really enjoyed this book by Maggie and was sad when it ended. It was very well narrated by Penelope McDonald. I hope Maggie keeps writing her fostering stories. They are heartwarming.

I loved this book and found it very interesting. Unlike some other listeners, I had no problems with the narrator. However I wish that the book hadn't ended when it did. I would have liked to hear the story of her life with her new family, how she came to the U.K. and met her husband, and had children of her own in Bradford.

I really enjoyed the story and was sorry when it ended. I hope there will be another one in the series.
I was looking forward to hearing more about Chad and Emily from the first book but to my disappointment they were given completely different voices so they sounded like different people. This is frustrating, annoying and unnecessary as the narrator is the same. I don't know why Julia Franklin did this. A professional narrator should know better. Apart from this the book was great.

I couldn't put this book down. An incredible story which I found very moving, but I also felt angry with the neglectful behaviour of Suzanne's parents. It was astonishing that both parents who were teachers would not bother to educate their daughter, who was desperate for schooling. They also neglected her other needs . e.g. social and practical. They only bought one child size life jacket although they had 2 children! As I also spent many years on a cruising boat travelling the world I know that such neglect is inexcusable and totally unnecessary. The book is dramatic and exciting, well written and narrated. For me it brought back many memories of the cruising life. I think it would appeal to everyone, and can thoroughly recommend it.

A good story but I did not like the narrator. I found it most annoying that she kept dropping her t's....for example the name of one of the main characters, Katie , was pronounced Kay-ee hundreds of times throughout the book. Lots of other words were also mispronounced, and I think a professional narrator should do better.

This book is an eye opening exposure of the overwhelming poverty in the East End of London at the beginning of the 20th century. Well worth reading. Jack London's personal experience of living there incognito and his writing skills make this a fascinating though deeply troubling book. In spite of all its faults, the Welfare state has eliminated most of the extreme poverty depicted in this book. We are so fortunate to be living now and not then.
