A gripping courtroom drama preceded by a fascinating tale - what more could you expect from Simon Michael - yes we expect the historical detail that makes the whole story even more moving! And that sends us down an Internet rabbit hole, investigating .... well, that would just be a spoiler alert, and who does that? Enough to say that every Charles Holborne story gets better and better, and, if you are already invested in these characters, you will not be disappointed. When does the next one come out?....diaries at the ready!

I cannot say what it was that I enjoyed about this book, because - SPOILER ALERT! So will just reiterate earlier reviews I have left in this series by saying the atmosphere of 1960s Britain, in which I grew up, and the characters portrayed, make this book as awesome as the others. Just off to fix my mascara after many tears and to download the next one. Courtroom drama at it's best. And yes, I did literally punch the air - several times, but you will have to listen to the book to find out why!

The world of the Temple and courts is always fascinating, and Simon takes us with him through all the legal shenanigans while keeping us emotionally attached to his family and defendants. I love these books and would recommend them to any reader who enjoys legal thrillers.

I started listening to this book, never doubting that I would love it as I have all the others, and just kept listening through most of the night and the following day because I could not stop. Brilliant.

I just love this community- real people with true life problems and successes. Richard can really paint a wonderful picture of life and its trials. So hard to really describe what I like, without giving spoilers, so I'll leave it there.

The lessons were so tedious, lurching from interminable comparisons of body parts or other weird subjects (really? At intermediate levl) to multiple verbs at breakneck speed, then back to the inane, with one of the readers slurring her way through the sentences so as to be incomprehensible. Will be getting my money back if I could actually get Audible to answer .

This series of books started from a high note and has gone from strength to strength. I adore the characters, but word to the wise, don't listen to this one when you've just done your makeup ready to go out. Ask me how I know...

This series of books are fast becoming my favourite way of curling up with another thriller and being thoroughly entertained with marathon listening sessions, while at the same time being educated into the ins-and-outs of the kaw, and nostalgia for the 60s when I grew up. I can't wait for Charlie's next case.

This is a gripping series of books, so interesting in the details of the world of the barrister and of the lives of the Jews in London at this time. I am only sorry that Audible have none of the subsequent titles on offer at the time of writing this review.
