Summary
New supernatural mystery for fans of Slayers: A Buffyverse Story!
From brilliant debut writer L J Weller, and narrated by Sex Education's Tanya Reynolds, meet Tansy Bloom, Monster Hunter. Buckle up: there's a new slayer in town.
Three months ago, twenty-eight-year-old Tansy Bloom quit monster hunting. Since then, she’s been trying to live a normal life (whatever that means), but ending up single, unemployed, and living on a boat outside her godfather’s pub definitely wasn’t part of the plan. So, when Tansy’s ex-husband – fellow monster hunter Rex Barclay – turns up like a bad penny and asks for her help with his latest investigation, Tansy reluctantly agrees.
At first, the job appears to be a straightforward monster hunt – following a spate of large creature sightings, Rex believes a werewolf is on the loose in Norfolk, and he intends to capture it. But Tansy’s not convinced. For one thing, the mysterious black dog Rex is hunting is able to vanish into thin air. For another, everyone who’s encountered the black dog is dying in a series of freak accidents. Bad news for Tansy, who’s just come face-to-face with the creature herself.

Great
A really good supernatural book, I really enjoyed the story, suspense with a little bit of horror thrown in and even romance. Good narration also.

Something to sink your teeth into...
It's one of the rare instances when a perfect story marries up with the perfect narrator. I was thoroughly engrossed in this witty and thrilling, Buffyesque on-the-edge-of-your-seat ride through Norfolk's supernatural underworld. Expertly written with characters you love instantly (Herons included) and a story and atmosphere that grips you from the second you start listening.
If you like Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Supernatural, this is something you can really sink your teeth into...

Interesting idea
Story was ok but not a lot really happens and to say she’s a Monster Hunter there’s no talk of any special abilities. Just didn’t strike me as plausible. It was very well read however.

absolutely loved it!
different concept and storyline. The perfect narrator for this book, she does an incredible job of creating personalities and voices for each character, reads with a perfect flow giving a mix of narrative and script. Having a monster hunting plot, mixed with a bit of romance and an added ponch of detective murder investigation, it creates an interesting book.
I certainly we have more... please

Great fun monster hunter
This a cross between Supernatural and Buffy with a side order of UK humour. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Great Start to a New Series
I wasn't sure what to expect from this audiobook but gave it a go as it's one of my favourite genres. I'm delighted to say that it gripped me from the start. The heroine is likeable - as are all the principal characters - she's brave, strong and compassionate. The plotline is strong and all of the characters are well developed, and the narrator does an excellent job of bringing the story to life. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series!

British Buffy
Interesting story with strong female lead. Quirky and humourous. Nicely read with good accents. Looking forward to the next one.

Brilliant book.
Have never heard of this author before. But so glad I gave this book a chance. It was brilliant. First off the narrator is so good. Why has she not narrated more books????
The book is wonderfully written and funny in just the right places. Was gutted to see there were no more books in the series to read. So really hoping there are more on the way. Definitely a five star listen.

Could be a new supernatural series?
This supernatural story is set in Norfolk in locations that will be familiar to those who know the area, however Tansy's adventures as a monster hunter will appeal to anyone who enjoys a good story. A cast of interesting characters are involved in saving lives that are endangered by a mythical creature whose legends have been researched by the author. I enjoyed the juxtaposition of normality and the supernatural, plus a touch of romance thrown in!
Tanya Reynolds reads perfectly with expression and characterisation that draws the reader in. Although the ending is neat, without annoying loose ends, there remains scope to develop this into a series. In print, it would be available to a wider audience.
