One of the top listens of the year!
Wow! What a story. Yes, there are trigger warnings, but despite all the darkness, the story is filled with glimpses of light. Elena is being attacked, and a mysterious man comes to her rescue. The Silencer is a serial killer, but Elena is his obsession. No danger will come to her. Now frequently visiting, Elena has gotten over her fear, and just deals with him. Meanwhile, at work, her boss, Christian has not only saved her job, but is interested in her. Against her better judgement, she enters into a relationship with him. Now what will the Silencer do when he finds out he has competition? This certainly gives a very simplistic summary, as Ariel N Anderson packs so much into it. It's murder,secrets, family, loss and tragedy, along with mental illness, orphans, love and obsession. Don't go into this looking for that happy ending, but the love that Elena and Christian had and gave to their daughter all shone rays of hope and love through the darkness. This is an emotionally charged story and amazing listen.
The narration drives the story home. Lee Daniels and Joe Arden in duet create the world to which I found myself. Daniels is Elena, and her emotions are all over the place. Scared, frustrated, passionate, hurt, she is all there with each emotion, going through each phase of her life. Arden's voice is crazy! As the Silencer, he is eerily realistic with his crazy sound and easily transitions to Christian, smooth as silk, These two poured all the feels and made this story feel extremely real. It was the perfect pairing with the story.

Speechless
No words I write will do this review justice, but here goes:
Ariel warns you at the very start. This book is dark, and there is no HEA, so i was like ok I can do this, bring it.
I don't think I've cried so hard at a book before.
For this to be Ariels first book is beyond amazing. The way it was written was so real and raw and beautiful. Some of the lines in this book broke me because they were so beautifully poetic.
The journey both these characters go through is tragic, and I wanted to save them and just take away their pain. I just fell in love with them so hard!!
There were parts of this story I related with things in my own life, and it changed things for me, so thank you, Ariel, for writing so real and raw. I applaud you so much.
Lee Daniels is new to me, narrator, AND IM OBSESSED!! Her voice is so beautiful and soft and then so sassy and then flirty and then fierce when needed. The emotion she put into her performance was everything it made me feel so much connected to Elena and made her so real to me. Her side character voices every time she voiced Caroline. I couldn't stop smiling and her Bethany voice. I loved her accent. I can't wait to dive into more of her work because her talent is outstanding, and she does all the praise.
I personally feel that Joe Arden excels in dark roles he really gets into the character and brings the unhinged energy. From the character voice different from Christian and then the silencer and then Elliot was just a masterpiece of pure talent. The emotion he put into this also made it so raw for me. For me, this is his best performance.
I was going to read this, but when I saw the audio announcement, I decided to wait so I could go in blind. I'm so glad I did!!
I will also never be eating pancakes again 😭

Outstanding!
Wow. Just.... WOW!
I finished this in the early hours of the morning after it's release because I couldn't and didn't want to stop listening. I am utterly blown away by Ariel and her writing talent. This is her debut novel ffs! It's going to take me a couple of days to form coherent thoughts and feelings to be able to cobble together my full review for this.
What a journey this book takes you on, I went into this blind all I knew was it is a romantic tragedy and doesn't have a HEA and I am so glad I did. I would advise that you go into this as blind as possible too IF you can, you have to protect your mental health etc so take those content and TWs at the start of this book seriously.
Lee Daniels & Joe Arden were both utterly incredible, the absolute raw displays of emotion in their performances throughout the entire book was next level and left me speechless at times. Thank you both for bringing this story to life the way you did.

I .... what? What?!
Jesus. This story is definitely intense. Kudos to the author for this unique take on dark romance.
But Mr Arden brings it for the narration. His performances are always fantastic but this narration is without comparison.
I need to go cuddle some kittens now.

Incredible Debut - not to be missed!
This book was extraordinary but definitely not for the faint hearted!
It's best to go in blind but please pay attention to the triggers mentioned at the beginning of the book and be aware that this is very dark! Think Batman and Gotham City and you get the idea!
The duet narration was sublime by Lee Daniels and it was definitely Joe Arden's finest work!
