Complaint

A viewer complained that an item on the Cass Review (of gender identity services for children and young people, commissioned by NHS England) misrepresented its conclusions and ignored key points, in pursuit of an agenda of discounting the Review’s findings.  The ECU considered the complaint in the light of the BBC’s editorial standards of accuracy and impartiality.

Outcome

Although the item did not mention all the points made by the Review, in the ECU’s judgement it gave a fair and accurate account of its main conclusions, and there were no grounds for inferring that it reflected any agenda on the part of the BBC.
