Europa Park Thrills and Black Forest Hills
Set between the Rhine River and the Black Forest, Rust is a small German town that is best known for its huge Europa Park. The largest theme park in Germany, it only comes second behind Disneyland Paris as Europe’s most popular amusement park.
The park’s 16 themed zones contain a variety of high-adrenaline rides as well as attractions better suited to younger children. There are also shows, a 4D cinema and various eating establishments all over the complex.
In addition to the elaborately designed hotels within Europa Park, Booking.com has a fantastic range of Rust accommodation including hotels with outdoor pools, apartments with parking, and cheap guest houses.
However, this is of course not the only reason to visit. The Baden-Württemberg region offers some wonderful cycling routes, and the hills to the east of Rust are also popular for hiking.
The town is located less than 1 hour’s drive from the Black Forest spa resort of Baden-Baden and the colourful city of Freiburg. Each route passes by lush vineyards and little towns with half-timbered houses. Historic Strasbourg is over the border with France to the north, while Basel to the south is a lesser-known Swiss gem.

Rust is a pretty town that is 100% focused around the theme parks - which is to be expected. There are plenty of dinner places to choose from but the quality varies. Our favourite by far was MamaMia, for both the service and the delicious food.

Rust is just for Europa Park visits, and does not offer much for other expectations. But EP is very amazing, especially for families. A 2-day visit was ideal for us, but depending on the kids' ages and joy, a few more days can be worth it. (Also parents have joy, too!)KKIVILCIMTurkey - Scored 1010

Rust is a fantastic little town in South West Germany. Plenty of eateries, bars and bakeries. Europa Park, Germanys biggest, and probably one of the best Theme Parks in the world is on its doorstep, as is Rulantica Water Park. Good base for Europa/Rulantica and visiting Black Forrest.

The great secret about visiting Europa Park with the family...
The great secret about visiting Europa Park with the family is the adjacent town of Rust. You can either sit in the traffic jam that morning with the entire rest of south western Germany, Switzerland and France, or you can stay the night before with the family, have a leisurely breakfast and then either catch the local bus over or walk, depending on your hotel's location. It's nicer than the Europa Park parking experience, and staying in Rust gives you somewhere to collapse with the family after a long day on the rides. There's hotels with parking, supermarkets for the essentials and cheap family restaurants. It feels like a cheat code few others have found yet for an enjoyable stay.

Rust is geared around Europa Park and Rutlantica. We should have hired a car as unless we were in the parks there was very little to do. The parks are fabulous and great fun, we had a blast in them and will be back. The people of Rust are really friendly, there are plenty of places to eat on a night however nothing is open through the day for food (apart from one kiosk outside the front gates). The staff greeted us very kindly and spoke good English and gave us a free parking voucher to use at the Rulantica water park. There is ample free parking at the hotel and a 10 min walk to europa park. Breakfast was exactly what we needed again staff was very polite. Netflix in the room which nowadays I believe every hotel should have! All round Great stay well done to the staff and the owner!JoeUnited Kingdom

We already planning for our next holiday with our friends and family at Boland's Apartement. The appartement is beautifully designed, surrounded by lovely gardens, and, most importantly very clean, with everything you need,within 10 minutes walk . It is also only a short walk away from europa park. I would recommend Boland apartment if you are planning to got to europa park and want to stay away from the busy hotels.

The property had plenty of space for our two families and was very comfortable. There was parking for our two cars and the property has underfloor heating throughout - useful in the colder April weather. Cooking and dining facilities were great.
