Unique character of the place, old fashioned decor and individuality of rooms. Really quiet with little noise. Decent bar with views and good quality food in restaurant, good breakfast. Chef was excellent and checked food safety for my son who is peanut allergic.
This peaceful, family-run Lake District hotel is a 5-minute stroll from Lake Windermere. The Burn How’s rooms are all situated in the private grounds, away from the main building.

Rooms need updating, very dingy and in need of some TLC. Shower kept falling off the bracket, bathroom window wouldn't open. Breakfast was very average, I wouldn't call it award winning. Location was beautiful but grounds looking a bit unkempt.

Great location and fantastic views - we stayed there only to break our journey to Scotland but we enjoyed it so much that we almost wanted to stay there for the rest of the holiday. We have been to the lakes many times and always enjoyed our times there, but this time was exceptional. You can book a private boat trip from the hotel so you don’t really need to leave the hotel to enjoy the entire Windermere experience.
Linthwaite House is situated on a hilltop overlooking Windermere, making it the perfect base from which to explore the scenic surroundings.

The breakfast was a la Carte & the menu very good. We would have liked to stay longer & linger over breakfast but we had to leave. Sometimes it’s easier to have a continental buffet that you can help yourself as well as additional cooked items for those who want a cooked breakfast option

We have been back to Bowness probably around once a year for a couple of days for the past 25 years, we love the place and after this length of time the bars feel like a local, especially the Hole in 'T' Wall and Sol Bar.
Typical Lakes weather though, but rain does not put you off.

The hotel is in the heart of Bowness-on-Windermere just set back off the Main Street and just seconds away from all the local amenities, pubs, restaurants. Thought it was a really nice touch emailing recommendations of places to eat, drink, visit on our stay. Very helpful if you have never visited the lakes before. Rooms were immaculate and was well worth the money. A little hidden gem. Definitely will be booking again.
Love how central it is to bowness on Windermere! We walked to one of the local pubs for tea and walked back! Absolutely loved the outdoor facilities, even though it was raining it didn’t matter as we relaxed in the hot tub with a drink watching a film.
I really enjoyed my stay at The Belsfield Hotel. The staff were friendly and hospitable. The room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast at the hotel was delicious. We booked the lake view room which did not disappoint. The view was incredible.
