Fort William is a good base for visiting the surrounding area. The scenery is stunning. Ben Nevis and Glen Coe are on the doorstep. The famous steam train ride to Mallaig is unmissable. Fort William as a town is a bit basic, but it is well-equipped with what you need for a walking holiday!

Charming town in the heart of the highlands.
Charming town in the heart of the highlands. It is a really good base for exploring the highlands and has some good restaurants and facilities for self catering. The Ben Nevis distillery is definitely worth a visit, as is Ben Nevis itself - this is a great place for walkers!

Well. we didn't see much of Fort William except the shops because our luggage was lost, and Wetherspoons (just what we needed). The hill was bleak and snowy and windy and wet and steeeeep and coming down nearly killed me - but climbing it was joyful!

I remember going to Fort William as a boy and also at varying times throughout my years and i was very disappointed in the place. Lots of charity shops and a couple of pubs and that seemed to be it. Its definitely a hill walkers paradise and the B&B's along the water side looked lovely. I will not recommend or even return to Fort William ever again sorry.
Hotel was very clean, modern and newly refurbished. Immaculate everywhere. Good location opposite the loch and near the high street for some good pubs and amazing restaurants (the Garrison!), and some shops.
Delicious cooked and continental breakfast, and easy parking in hotel’s car park.
Good location to visit Ben Nevis, Glenfinnan (Harry Potter train and aquaduct) and Oban (great whiskey distillery tour, harbour, and much bigger town than Fort William), and other places too.
The Alexandra Hotel was covered in scaffolding when we stayed, but we didn’t hear any loud work to interrupt our stay. The location was perfect for our adventures exploring everything Fort William has to offer! The room & bathroom was clean, and the restaurant downstairs was comfortable and served good food and drinks.
Perfect location in the centre of Fort William. We were treated to a fantastic cooked breakfast every morning. We really liked hotel
Everything was spotless and we felt very well looked after.
All staff members were very high credit to hotel
The hotel is well located, a short walk from the centre of Fort William. The room was comfortable with the level of amenities you would expect in a hotel room. The breakfast had a good selection of hot and cold foods to meet all tastes.
