Keswick is a busy, vibrant town, the gateway to the northern lakes given it's accessibility from the M6. Parking is expensive unless you get there early and get some free on street parking on the outskirts of the town centre.
As you would imagine the main shops are outdoors based but there a a few good coffee places and restaurants too.
There is a local webpage which has suggestions for walks and activities.

We had to pay £5 for our parking for one night, when I came down to reception the next day, I overheard another couple saying that they had not paid for their parking for their 2 night stay, the gentleman at the desk said ' don't worry, you don't have to pay anything at all!'
Talk about not treating everyone the same!!!
I booked a lake view with a double view room and we got one window with scaffolding and if you craned your neck around you possibly could have seen the Lake - possibly.

I love Keswick and keep returning time after time.
I love Keswick and keep returning time after time. It's a beautiful town with all the services and shops one could want. The surrounding nature is simply astounding. We love the Surprise View, Lattrig, Catbells, Borrowdale... I could go on and on :)
Booked the half board package and dinner far exceeded expectations. Old world hotel, full of character and very unlike many sterile, characterless chain hotels. Room good size and bed v comfortable. Sadly no view but overall great stay. Great position quiet yet short and easy walk into town centre.
