Zephyr is very close to pier 39 and most of its attractions. The staff was very welcoming, and the common spaces are awesome - loved the games in there and the free s'mores! They got us water bottles and there was always fresh water available to refill them.
The rooms were clean and very comfortable!
Zephyr truly exceeded our expectations!

Easy to reach, excellent position close to lot of facilities. Parking is included and considering you're in SF it's well worthed. Chestnut Street is right around the corner and it's plenty of shops, bar and restaurant. Bus stops are very close: you can reach every part of the city with ease (if you're planning to use public transports for a day, be sure to get the daily pass ticket and not the single run one). Comfy bed, bathroom is practical and neat clean . Overall the room is spacious and well furnished. Staff are kind and helpful

Home to one of America’s icons – the Golden Gate Bridge – San Francisco is a liberal city where life is very much for the living.
Surrounded on 3 sides by water, it is spread over steep hills that make for great photo opportunities. None better than the zig-zag Lombard Street seen in many a film. Other movie stars are the streetcars plying the hill climbs – a little touristy, but still worth trying.
In the middle of the bay is Alcatraz island, famed for the notorious criminals once imprisoned there. Even if you don’t fancy going inside, the views towards the bridge and city are unparalleled.
Nowhere in San Francisco is life more laidback than on the Pacific beaches. Hire a bike and head out there via the huge Golden Gate Park, before returning to sample some fresh seafood at Fisherman’s Wharf. The clam chowder served in (yes, actually in!) bread is a delight. Chinatown also has a great selection of good value restaurants.
As you fly into San Francisco Airport, look out for the exclusive homes lining the Bay Area. Whether you want to stay in apartments along those lines, luxury San Francisco hotels or cheap hostels, Booking.com has something to suit. Be careful though – you might just leave your heart here.
We did one day in San Francisco. A trip to Muir woods was well worth it. The virgin Redwood forest was beautiful and nourishing for the soul. A pic in front of the Golden Gate Bridge was ticked off our “must do” list. A visit to the historical island of Alcatraz, which needed to be pre-booked, was interesting. A bonus was the bird sanctuary on Alcatraz Island. We tasted the hot dogs outside the boarding gates which were a hit.

Every system functions at the highest level for an American city. The citizens are more respectful and conscientious than anywhere I've been. So much to do and see and perfect weather despite a heat wave in nearby areas.

Overall, San Francisco has a long way to go, as I have never felt more uncomfortable walking around in a city before. If you are walking around Market street, which I assume is the main hotel district, you feel very uncomfortable with all the drugs and homelessness, which says a lot when coming from South Africa. There was a lot of security around certain areas at specific times of the day, but that didn't change the feeling of being uncomfortable. In the more affluent areas you feel a bit more at ease.
Getting around is fairly easy, but try to avoid walking too much, as some of the hills are soul destroying, especially if you missed the street you wanted to turn down, and then have to walk back down a steep decline.
Walking around Pier 39 was OK, but it is way too touristy, so try to get the earlier rather than later.
Overall, it is a very pretty city, depending where you are.

The city had cleaned up the central area and still has great restaurants but many boarded up storefronts downtown was somewhat depressing.
It was not the vibrant city that we have visited many times in the past.

So much to see and do in SF.
So much to see and do in SF. We stayed 7 nights, and felt this was about right. We used all forms of public transport all the time as it was easy and cheap. We should of got he 7 day Muni pass, but i didn't know about it till it was too late. We booked a free walking tour on the first day which was great and very informative. We enjoyed the trip to Alcatraz, and we hired electric bikes for a day and rode across Golden Gate Bridge to Sausalito where we stopped for lunch . There is a ferry back, but as we had more than enough charge left we rode from there to Golden gate park, before heading back to return bikes. We loved the vibe at Haight-Ashbury, where we had a mooch about, stopped for drinks in a bar, and had food in an Italian place. China town was colorful and busy. We had many rides on the cable cars, be sure to purchase the correct tickets. There was always a queue at the tickets booths, but it was so easy to download the app and buy ticket that way. Trams were easy and so was using the Bart system. We got a Bart from the airport to Union Square. A must see is Lombard Street (the windy road). And if you fancy a ride in a driverless taxi, then this is the city, you need to download the Waymo app, order a caab (much like an uber) and a car will collect you and drop you to your destination, without a driver!!!!
Bring comfy shoes, you will do lots of walking, and bring layers of clothes, as although it was very sunny , there was a wind at times that made it very chilly...
We made it to our first ever baseball game to watch the San Francisco Giants that was being held at Oracle Park, a great experience...
Be prepared to witness a vast amount of homeless people on the streets, and sometimes drug use... But this is mainly limited to one area around the Tenderloin district. All in all, great city, full of friendly people, who will walk past and say hello.

You have to take Uber or Waymo (good experience without driver) to go anywhere. Expensive. Renting a car is less expensive, but difficult to find a place to park.
Big bus tours are nice. Hop on and off. Different tours.
In general San Francisco is a very nice place to go ! Very good restaurants too!!!!
Spotless hotel in a great location. Neighbourhood is very safe and has plenty of bars & restaurants to enjoy. We saw some bad reviews for the car park around the corner so decided to park at a secure car park on union street roughly 10 mins walk away, it was $30 a for 24hrs and very secure. The hotel’s loading bay at the entrance makes unpacking and repacking the car with luggage super easy. Also the rooftop has fantastic views of the city. Overall by far the best option we had found in San Francisco, especially for the price.
Location is amazing. A street car stop right outside our hotel was perfect. Union Square is full of designer shops and has amazing lighting at night. A great central point to visit all of San Francisco. Most welcoming hotel ever. Free homemade cookies (oh lord!!!), coffee, fruit, sweets and pop corn. A half price drink at the bar on arrival. Just wonderful. An excellent spirts bar just 2 doors away. Perfect.
The hotel is guarded with security guards at the lobby which is safer at night. Reception at 3rd floor with the restaurant and waiting area full with funky and colorful decoration on wall which made it vibrant. Room is clean, comfortable, great view. Location is strategic which is next to union square, BART station and other public transport.
Quite a nice little find in San Francisco Union Square area. It's like a French pension transplanted into the city, with all the charm and coziness you'd expect from a pension, including some rooms with gas fireplaces and a cozy breakfast area in the lower floor.
The hotel room was modern and comfortable. There was also a nice view from my room. The hotel is in an accessible location near Union square, and it felt safe in the area. There is also a cable car stop right outside the hotel.
