Don't miss the two ancient baptistries under the Duomo.
Don't miss the two ancient baptistries under the Duomo. One is by the elevator that leads to the roof (where Saint Ambrose was baptized) and the other is under the entrance (where Saint Ambrose baptized Saint Augustine). There is a charge for access to the second one.

The web site for purchasing tickets can be quite confusing, but it's worth skipping the lines on site. The ticket to tour the Duomo itself, along with the museum nearby is Euro13 per adult. Both are very worthwhile. We spent much more time than we had anticipated, as there was so much to absorb and appreciate.

100% purchase the fast pass to the roof. The Duomo is gorgeous. After touring the Duomo head across the street to the Rinascente Dept store top floor and dine in the restaurnat on the roof for another view of the acrciture of the Duomo.

It costs 22 euros to get a "lift" to the top.
It costs 22 euros to get a "lift" to the top. What they don't tell you is that you have to walk all the way down (200 steps). If you have trouble with your knees or with walking, don't do it. Definitely not accessible for those with walking impairments. It was a bit of a circus with all the people posing for photos in front of the cathedral in their fancy, sexy outfits.

Very nice inside - lots to see.
Very nice inside - lots to see. Terraces walk up to the roof and edges is worth doing - I would skip the lift option unless you really don’t want to climb steps as it only takes you half way and costs a lot more plus you need to walk back down. Also the ticket queue early in the morning is short but by midday stretches down the street.

For walking around Milan, this location is superb. The staff is incredibly friendly and very accessible through a quick WhatsApp text. They are very kind and helpful. The bed was super comfortable, and every though there's no room service or gym, the place was very comfortable. Great place to stay for a few days if you'd like to be perched within walking distance to the Duomo Milan and a ton of other great shops/food.
