A WOMAN has been airlifted to hospital after reports that she fell from the flyover in Poole.

Police were called to Towngate bridge at 10.28am on July 3 after reports of a concern for welfare of a woman.

It was later reported that she fell from the flyover and the ambulance service arrived at 10.36am.

Two double-crewed land ambulances were sent to the scene along with a rapid response vehicle, a critical care car and an air ambulance.

The woman was taken to Southampton General Hospital by air ambulance.

Police blocked the road between The George roundabout and Asda supermarket, off Holes Bay Road, while they dealt with the incident.

A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust, said: “We were called at 10:36 on Wednesday 3 July to a medical incident in Poole.

“We sent two double-crewed land ambulances, a rapid response vehicle, a critical care car and an air ambulance to the scene. One patient was conveyed by air to Southampton General Hospital.”

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: “At 10.28am on Wednesday 3 July 2024, we received a report of the concern for welfare of a woman on the Towngate bridge in Poole town centre.

“It was subsequently reported that the woman had fallen from the flyover.

“Officers are currently in attendance with the ambulance service.

“The road is currently closed between The George roundabout and the Asda supermarket.”
