A FREE photo exhibition set to be held in Bridgwater later this month will highlight the best features of the Mendip Hills.

The exhibition will take place at The Engine Room on Bridgwater High Street, and will be the first work to be shown using new digital facilities.

'Menhir' by Somerset artist Elizabeth Woodger opens on Saturday, July 20, at 12 noon, to coincide with Super Saturday, a day of cultural events taking place in the town centre.

It takes its name from the neothilic standing stones and asks the question: what makes a landscape - geological processes or human actions?

The images blend the cultural and natural histories of the region by printing photographs onto local rock specimens and then embedding them in the environment.

It was first seen by audiences projected onto the rock faces of Cheddar Gorge last October as part of the Moments on Mendip Contemporary art project.

The exhibition will be open Monday to Friday from 10am until 4pm, and on Saturday, July 27 from 11am until 2pm.

The exhibition will close on Friday, August 2.
