Also this week Canada’s most prestigious science prize, the Gerhard Herzberg Canada gold medal for science and engineering, went to a scientist who helped make the AI revolution possible. Yoshua Bengio, the scientific director of the Montreal Institute for Learning Algorithms and professor at Université de Montréal, is both excited and cautious about the future of the technology he helped create.
