DELL ON AI & ENTERPRISE

MICHAEL DELL: And the amount of data that's being created in the world is not slowing down. Every seven or eight months, the amount of data in the world doubles, and that number's probably shrinking. And we store and protect and manage more data than any company in the world. This comes from our EMC acquisition and work that we have been doing at Dell for a long time. Put all that together, this is a tremendous opportunity for us because now AI is bringing that data to life.

DELL: Well, sometimes, in the early life cycle of a business, margins are a little bit lower. And as we scale up those businesses and get our supply chain really humming well, we're able to attach more services. Also, as AI moves more into the enterprise -- and we had a tremendous increase in the demand from enterprise customers in Q1. We see that continuing in Q2. Those enterprise customers tend to require more services and more of the accoutrements to make these things work a little bit different than some of the service provider customers, that it's a competitive business to sell to them.

DELL: So I think what we're going to see is AI everywhere. And, certainly, all the systems that we're building, whether it's the storage systems, the networking, the servers, the store -- the PCs, it's all about making these AI workloads work more efficiently.

DELL ON REFRESH OF PCS

DELL: The first device at the Edge, certainly, is the PC And we have the largest install base ever of PCs. It's an aging install base. Windows 10, end of life is coming. And so we think there will be a massive refresh of PCs. We think there will be AI PCs. Certainly, we have introduced a wide variety of those. We have many, many more coming. And the big killer app here is saving time, right?

DELL ON AI REGULATION

DELL: I think what you will have is the sort of marketplace of ideas across countries, right, where you will have some countries that will say, well, maybe we want more regulation, maybe we want less regulation. And I think you will see ideas and capital and entrepreneurs flow to where they're treated the best. To my way of thinking, yes, you're going to need some regulation.

EISEN: Guardrails?

DELL: But you don't want to have too much regulation, because this type of innovation is what's driving advanced drug discovery. And, ultimately, this is a huge leap forward in human capability and productivity. It's not just about cost and efficiency. It's about reimagining what we as humans can accomplish. And that's incredibly exciting.

DELL ON SOVERIGN AI

DELL: But it's hard to find a substantial economy in the world where there's not sovereign AI being built. And we're involved in a -- I would say, a large portion of those. The other thing we see happening with AI is, it's not just the large models. We see small models, some models again that run on the PC, run on Edge devices. And so you're going to see AI, in a sense, is like the Internet, because it will be everywhere and it'll be embedded in everything we do.
