Amazon has announced that Prime Day 2024 will fall on July 16 and 17. As always, the deals are sure to be amazing.  

You’ll need to be an Amazon Prime member to take advantage of the best deals. If you haven’t been an Amazon Prime member for the past 12 months, you can sign up for a free 30-day trial period on Amazon’s Prime page. 

The products that go on sale include everything from recognizable brand-name merchandise to independent products that you may never have heard of before the sale. Besides deep discounts, most products also have fast and free delivery — it’s feasible that you could purchase something on the first day of the sale and have it at your house in the morning on the second day before the sale even ends.

Some companies align their release schedule to coincide with this event, so it’s often possible to get the latest versions of products on Prime Day. However, if you don’t need the newest model, last year’s products are usually available at a deep discount.

It’s important to remember that Prime Day isn’t just for physical products. You can get discounts on music, videos, games and more during these 48 hours. If you’re interested in clothing, don’t forget to take part in Amazon’s “try before you buy” program, where you get to try up to six items of clothing for up to seven days before you have to pay.

How to prepare for Prime Day 2024

For starters, it’s a good idea to ensure that you have an active Prime membership. Without one, you won’t be able to get Prime Day deals. A membership costs $14.99 a month, and you can cancel anytime. 

Once you have your membership set up, start creating a wish list so you can opt-in for alerts on products you want; this way, you’ll know as soon as they go on sale or if the price has been slashed even more. 

If you’re shopping from your phone, your experience will be best on the mobile app. From there, you can create and manage your wish list and make purchases. What to expect from Prime Day 2024

As in previous years, Prime Day will last a full 48 hours. If you need some pointers on what to look out for, there are a handful of categories and brands we recommend prioritizing as they’re likely to see the deepest discounts.

In the past, the categories with the biggest savings have been electronics, appliances, toys, lawn and patio, home decor, apparel and personal care. As far as brands go, some of the most popular brands that are sure to offer significant discounts on items this year include Apple, Sony, Bose, KitchenAid, Ninja, DeWalt, De’Longhi, Samsung, HP, Lenovo and ASUS.
