As we approach the middle of June and the longest day of the year, showers and unsettled weather are forecast for the weekend.

Temperatures in the county will reach highs of 17C across the county this weekend, however the Met Office have said the region will experience long spells of rain, with some heavy and thundery on the Saturday.

Sunday will be a brighter day all round, with the Met Office predicting more sunny spells but temperatures staying cool with more of a breeze. More sunny spells are expected on Monday, but this period may not last.

A spokesperson for the Met Office said: “At first, the weather across the UK is likely to continue to be a mixture of sunny spells and scattered showers, with some longer spells of rain also possible. Some showers are expected to be heavy and could be thundery at times. Temperatures will generally be around or a little below normal for mid-June, and it may well be breezy in places too.”
