Released Ipswich Town goalkeeper Danny Callum has joined Suffolk non-league side Needham Market.

The 18-year-old departed the Blues this summer, having been at club the since the age of eight but never making a first-team appearance.

Cullum was a member of the academy sides which won the PDL Cup at both U16 and U18 levels in 2022.

Last season, he spent time on loan at fellow Suffolk non-league sides Bury Town and Ipswich Wanderers.

He now joins Kevin Horlock's side, who will play their football in the National League North in 2024/25 after winning the Southern League Premier Central title last campaign.

On signing for the Marketmen, Cullum said: "I’ve always admired the club, and especially last season I was always checking results on my phone after games and would always look at Needham’s first.

"Like I say always being a spectator, I’ve seen the highs they have achieved over the last few seasons, promotions, FA Cup first round, FA trophy quarter final against Stockport, and hoping within my time here we re-live some of those moments and advance to later round of competitions and standing strong in staying the NLN."

Cullum will provide cover for first choice keeper Marcus Garnham, before he heads off to the United States to start a college football scholarship in Missouri State next year.

Needham have also signed attacking midfielder Harley Curtis, another Town academy product, after he left Chesterfield.

Assistant boss Tom Rothery told Needham's website: "From the initial conversations with Harley I thought we had a good chance as I think we both will be good for each other.

"Harley and his agent Cos have been excellent throughout and to be able to add someone of Harley’s quality to the squad is a big coup for us.

"His ability to play in any of the forward positions is a massive attraction to us alongside his quality and his experience from last season at Chesterfield despite not playing lots will be good for us and the fact he is a local lad will help him also.

"I am really excited to see what Harley will bring and should be an exciting one for the supporters."
